Schwein — Restaurant in Vienna

To start with, the atmosphere and service were top notch. Super helpful and kind staff, and the Ambiente was very pleasant. The music was pleasantly quiet and we were welcomed with fresh water as soon as we sat down.

However, the food was disappointing. My partner and I went there for a date night and we were excited about the food due to the many positive reviews.

Yet, we were hugely disappointed by the food :( we had the monkey bread as starter, and the bread was extremely dry and without the sauce inedible. The sauce itself tasted quite blunt. So did the shiitake croquettes. I feel like they didn’t use any seasoning or simply, salt.

The mains were another huge disappointment. We had the cauliflower steak and baked beans mushrooms. For a vegan / vegetarian restaurant, the taste profile was blunt at best. The composition and seasoning were very uninspiring.

If this was a steak restaurant and they offered these kinds of vegan/vegetarian options, we would have been pleasantly surprised.

But as a vegan/vegetarian focused restaurant, the food was not worth the money, time and your attention.

We might want to try it again in a few months to see if they have improved, because the menu and idea sounds promising. And we looooved...

Unfortunately, we can't share the positive reviews - our visit was okay at best (which is painful since we really had high hopes). The miso egg was not scrambled as described in the menu & missing the chives. The mushrooms with beans were edible, but lacking finesse & - just like the egg - an appetizing presentation. Only the Benni Magic was really tasty, so 1 out of 3. The quite unattentive service staff however dampened the overall experience. Whilst we've had worse, the reality does - at least in our case - not live up to it's potential (or rather good reviews). Overall not a restaurant...

Very friendly service, good vibe with lovely table decorations made of herbs and veg. The food was tasty with just a little room for improvement in the details. The mushroom fleckerl were very tasty (they just could have been served a little hotter), as well as the salad hearts, the bread was toasted perfectly (crispy outside, still soft inside). The pancake was fine too, but the maple cream was not creamy as i would have expected, it was very dense and heavy, almost like cold butter. Maybe it was supposed to melt on the pankcake, which...
