Tourists Get Ripped Off Here
On our way to the Hundertwasser House, we stopped for a lunch at Trattoria Pergola, located on a charming little square. We ordered two pizzas (which were actually very tasty), a bottle of water, and two Aperol Spritz. Since our daughter was sharing with us, we asked for an extra plate, which was no problem.
What started as a pleasant lunch unfortunately ended in a very disappointing experience. My husband went inside to use the restroom, where he was aggressively approached by a waiter asking why he was there. Apparently, the waiter didn’t realize we were guests — but he could have simply asked in a polite manner.
When it was time to pay, the same waiter came over and pushed the card machine in front of me without mentioning or showing the total. When I asked to see the receipt, I discovered we had been charged three times for an “extra kitchen service” fee, just for the extra plate. And then, an automatic 10% tip was added — which, to be fair, was noted on the menu. But it feels uncomfortable to tip a waiter that has been rude to you.
We ordered €54 worth of food and drinks, but were charged €71 in total — 31% more than expected.
When we raised our concerns, we were told there was nothing they could do because “the boss wasn’t in.” Our complaint was dismissed, and we were left with the strong impression that this was all intentional. If not, they would have shown us the bill or mentioned the total beforehand.
All in all, a very disappointing and dishonest end to our lunch break. We will never return — and strongly advise other tourists...

We found a GIGANTIC worm in our salad… that we found in the middle of our lunch. And I really mean a big one, half of the size of my finger. God knows for how long it had been there eating and pooping in the salad we received…
Unfortunately according to the waiter, it is not their fault and they cant compensate for it, wince it was not a rock or sth, but part of the salad… uhm… yeah, it can happen, but it did happen! And obviously we lost any appetite to finish the meals which we still paid full price for…
Then after paying we found a hair in our drink…
Edit: in their response they even accuse me of lying about eating everything “to the last bite”.. the waiter even asked if we are done, because half of the meals were still in our plates 😀 And however writing reviews is not my professional activity, I believe it’s useful to write an honest review, even when it’s not a positive one. Otherwise the next people who come will won’t know any better. Their way of responding to negative feedback tells a lot. Guests should be grateful to be allowed to...
