First of all, I DON'T think most of restaurants(from take-away to dine-in) in Austria are basically open-minded nor treat fairly to asian tourists. Yes- as a result, I got refused TWICE. I came to a conclusion that- good service and friendly attitude is only for friendly cultures, not diverse cultural backgrouns citizens, especially asian.
Here's my experience.
Many favorable reviews from google were enough to lead me to this restaurant and very looked forward to experience local dine-in place.
At first, i thought that was because my fault since i visited late(around 9:30, although it opened til 11:00 pm).
But the very next day, when i visit there again around 6:15, the owner said they have full reservation due to year-end-party and turned my team down again. What is funny, other old couple was allowed to dine-in. (Although they didnt seem to join "the year end party")
In fact, I pay same as other EU citizens, which means I deserve to recieve "the same quality of service". I had no choice but to think and think what she meant for. And a few days after, i got still very embarrased, humiliated and disappointed.
I do understand if the local owners are not able to speak english, but what I felt was, it wasnt about the language, but austrian...
Read moreWe came especially to this restaurant after researching in advance, and it was so rewarding!
We were met by a very welcoming and sweet lady who helped us choose and was patient and warm throughout our stay, no matter how busy the place was.
As for the schnitzel - it is so good! Freshly made, crispy on the outside, just the right texture on the inside and accompanied by wonderful potatoes dish and sweet berries jam on the side. It was delicious and perfectly balanced.
The spinach and cheese dumplings in brown butter were also a delight. There were other very tempting local dishes, so there will have to be a next time. ;)
We liked the great coffee with its lovely crema and aroma so much that we had another before leaving.
Prices are very reasonable, portion sizes are generous, everything is very clean including the restroom and there's a seating area outside as well as inside. (Inside seating area has high chairs)
If you are looking for a place to eat in Vienna - I highly recommend Hemmers. Such a wonderful experience!
Thank you so much!...
Read moreSo fortunate to stumble across this gem, having just visited the Hundertwasserhaus last Friday evening. We were lucky to get a table, as they were almost fully booked and you could see why quite quickly.
The service was excellent and the food delicious with a good choice on the menu, even though they were closing for holidays the following day. I had the trout and my wife the Sander fish with a prawn and lobster risotto. Both were delicious and paired very nicely with the bottle of Wiener Gemischter Satz from the 'Christ' winery in Vienna.
My wife then had the chocolate mousse and I chose a small cheese platter, with another delicious wine to accompany. A great find, not too far from the centre, but with more of a feeling that this is a smart modern restaurant frequented by locals more than tourists.
The husband and wife who run this restaurant are talented, friendly and very hard working.....we met them again at the airport at 5:30am, us having got to bed early whilst they worked to 11pm. Thanks for a wonderful last...
