I was apart of a party of more that 10 persons and the experience was terrible. Our reservations was for 7:00 pm. We arrived and was seated in a timely manner (7:10). We asked if an additional table could be added and chairs and they refused it before even checking to see if it was possible. After drawing to their attention that there was a number of vacant seats, they finally brought two chairs ONLY, which then had to be squeezed into the already compact table resulting in my 9 year old niece sitting in her father's lap throughout the dinner.
The waiter asked if we would like to place drink orders but we insisted that we placed all of our food orders in at that same time (about 7:25). The drinks came out shortly after however, the food took extremely long to come out 9:00.
What made it even worst is that the vacant seats that we had originally brought to their attention had been filled after us and those tables had been served their food before us.
Then, to top if off, after having received one of the appetizers, (lump crab cake) we ordered another and the waiter came back and told us that there is no more lump crab cakes available. Shortly after, 2 waiters serving the other two tables in our area brought out the same lump crab cakes for the tables they were serving.
Just to be exact, the order was placed with the waiter no later than 7:30 and the food did not arrive at our tables until 9:00pm which was only after we had asked another waiter to check on the order due to curfew.
At this point, persons at my table had already canceled some of their meals because they were so appalled by the lack of professionalism and sense of urgency or even simply the lack customer service to atleast notify the table that their may have been a wait.
There was a Government imposed curfew at 10:00pm. So having been served your food at 9:00pm yet having to be off the road and in your homes before 10:00pm leaves the only option of having to "GOOBLE DOWN" your food and quickly rush to speed home. Certainly, members of my party arrived home after the 10:00pm curfew.
At the end of the night, the lady that originally refused to bring additional seating came over with the waiter and apologized after my table had complained about the terrible service. She offered a discount to the table of what was heard to be 50%. One of the members of the table turn to the waiter and asked if the lady had said 50% or 15%. He then responded and said that it was 50%. The bills arrived and it had only been adjusted to exempt us from paying the gratuity. Then came another DISPUTE over what was heard.
At this point it was to close to the curfew time so members of my party simply paid the complete bill that was brought to the table and left.
That was my first and certainly my last time patronizing WILD THYME...
Read moreOur visit on Saturday 29 July 2017, started with a small complication as one of our party is disabled and uses a mechanized wheelchair. While the restaurant has a fixed ramp to access the veranda, it was partly blocked by the planters and there was no ramp to access the main dining room. We navigated around the planters and used our portable ramp to access the main dining room. Our table was ready and dining companions already seated. We seated ourselves and the dining experience began in earnest.
We went through the "water dance" that all restaurants put you through and a cocktail was ordered. We were given ample time to review the menu and make final decisions on dinner selections. Philip our server was quite knowledgeable about the menu and his glowing recommendation on the conch fritters was spot on. Other appetizers ordered were calamari, shrimp and fish tacos. These items were well presented and enjoyed by all. I also ordered a beet and tomato salad and think it would be better received if the beet is served warm. Entrees were lobster salad, Chilean sea bass, lamb chops and duck. These items were well presented and enjoyed. Portion sizes for the entrees were appropriate given the ample size of the appetizers. The wine list is not extensive but an appropriate selection was found with assistance from our server. Except for one, we did not order a dessert; the dessert choices did not seem particularly appealing.
The hostess was quite attentive to our "special" dinner companion but not overbearing. We had ample time to enjoy our meal and conversations. The restaurant had a great ambiance and the simplicity of its decor (Island life) is much appreciated. It is a welcomed addition to the restaurant scene in New Providence and we will definitely visit again. However, it must solve the ready access problem for patrons in...
Read moreWe visited Wild Thyme today for my mommy’s birthday and it was so nice. When we got inside it was very quiet because there were small groups inside (there was 5 of us) and if it wasn’t so hot we would have sat outside so we wouldn’t feel out of place laughing and talking. 😅 Our server Alton was so kind and very attentive to our table even though he had other tables to tend to as well. The bread they have isn’t anything special; it was just regular white bread and some parts of the slices were cold. We ordered conch fritters and calamari for the table and they were good. The fritters were nice and hot and filled with herbs and conch. The sauce that came with them didn’t have much taste though. The calamari was well seasoned and hot, but the sauce once again wasn’t anything special. My mommy and I both got the shrimp fettuccine Alfredo and it was nice. Really good portion size and a good amount of shrimp too. The shrimps in the dish do come with the tails on them so keep that in mind. My cousin got the curry goat tacos with regular and she said they were reallyyy good. My aunt got the “the works” burger and she also enjoyed it. She got it well done and had the egg on it fried so there was to any runny yolk. My other cousin got the lamb burger and she enjoyed it too. Her only complaint was that the sweet potato fries were not that crispy but they quickly brought out another fresh set for her that she devoured. For drinks we had the rum punch which was strong and sweet. Fruit punch which was also good and passion fruit lemonade which was also good. Overall I would recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a chill place to eat with good food and...
