Restaurant Review 🤤
Esco Bar, Antwerp 🇧🇪
We arrived in Antwerp around lunch time and we were HUNGRY. It was a beautiful day so we were hoping to find somewhere we could eat outside. We dropped our bags off at the hotel and a quick google search led us to Esco Bar. It was only a 7 minute walk from the Station ANTWERPEN-CENTRAAL. Like a lot of these businesses in the lowlands you have no idea what you’re in for by just looking at the outside of the building. What a beautiful place to grab a bite to eat.
There are many seats inside but the true beauty of this spot (and where everyone else was) is the back “patio”. A turf/grassy area, in the sun, that makes you feel like you’re having a picnic. There are some loungers at the back if you really want to relax but also tables to eat at. The weather helped but it was magical. Birds chirping and the wind blowing. It really couldn’t have been a more perfect day to eat outside.
I was ready to have one of their burgers if they had a bun I could eat (the gluten free options were limited). No luck on the bun, so I opted for a salad instead. I’m not lying and don’t laugh when I say, but it was THE BEST salad I’ve ever had. Apples, nuts (almonds, cashews, walnuts), bacon, cranberries, feta cheese (it was waaaaaarm), cucumber, tomato, leafy greens, and a honey mustard dressing. Delicious. The warm feta on top just MADE the salad and the dressing 🤤. Trevor had the Chicken Burger (Parmesan, greens, avocado, tomato and mayo with chips on the side). Not much conversation during lunch took place that’s for sure.
The price for the burger was reasonable, a bit much for the salad but I’d pay €17 for that salad any day. Overall we loved our experience at Esco Bar and would definitely recommend going if you’re in Antwerp!

Read moreGreat place for our breakfast! The sandwich with egg, salmon and avocado was great. The employees were really nice to us. The decor looked a bit like they bought everything at a thrift store, including the plates but I really didn't mind. It didn't look out of place. I was a bit disappointed though by how uncomfortable the chairs and our table were. They did also have other chairs there so maybe just our luck while sitting down. Most surprising to me was the way the Espresso Doppio was served. It was served in a glass that had the shape of a whiskey glass. Such a big glass for this drink made it so it cooled down really quickly and there was almost no crema on top of the Espresso because of the big liquid surface on top. I would still definitely recommend this place for...
