Sofie's Place — Restaurant in Antwerp

I visited Sofie’s Place today with a friend and unfortunately had a disappointing experience. We sat outside in the veranda and ordered a Thai beef salad. Despite the restaurant being almost empty, we had to wait 50 minutes for it to arrive. We even had to get up and ask if they had forgotten our order. When it finally came, the portion was shockingly small and overpriced—just four tiny slices of beef on a small bed of salad, and it wasn’t even good.

Hoping for a better experience, we then ordered the pasta vongole, only to send it back because the clams were full of sand. After another 20-minute wait, they served a second plate, which was slightly better but still had sand inside.

The food here is very tasty but slightly on the salty side, waiters were friendly. We had a pasta and the butchers cut. However, when we were ordering the butchers cut, the waitress said that one side salad dish comes with the meat, when we finished and paid, I noticed that the side dish of green salad was charged. When asked, the waitress said that I must’ve understood wrong. And that the salad is an add on instead of it being a pairing to the meat. Great lunch, great service! I just left Sophie’s Place after a delicious lunch. My server, whose name I did not unfortunately get, was very helpful with making suggestions. I don’t speak Dutch, and the menu was only in Dutch. She was very attentive throughout. The food was delicious, having just the right amount of spice. A little pricey...
