I had an extremely disappointing experience at this restaurant due to the staff's discourteous behavior. Firstly, the server was impolite when placing my backpack on the floor without asking where I preferred it to be placed, which was very offensive. Additionally, I was constrained to choose from a set menu. When I requested a la carte options, the server rudely directed me to view the menu on my cellphone, displaying condescension and dismissing me outright. Furthermore, I encountered unprofessionalism when inquiring about a specific dish, Waterzooi van Kip, and was abruptly told it was unavailable. To my surprise, another staff member then directed me to go elsewhere for this "cheap food" and instructed the other staff not to serve me, displaying unwelcoming behavior. This situation forced me to leave despite feeling cold and hungry on a rainy day. Overall, my dining experience was marred by the staff’s disrespectful behavior. I strongly advise against dining at this restaurant due to the offensive comments and unprofessional conduct of the staff, which is unacceptable in this industry and damages the reputation of such a...
Read moreIf you are in Ghent, or anywhere near it, try this place. Get a reservation, it’s small so they are better prepared if they know you are coming. A leisurely pace, but worth the wait. The duck, the soups, believe it or not turkey, the fish, all perfect. Also great deserts, the chocolate and the cheese tray, all memorable. Best way to try local food, local ingredients.. We ate here twice during our recent trip to Ghent. Small resturant with limited menu, everything prepared to order. Family run, fixed menu at reasonable prices. House wines are great. We ate at a number of places on this trip, this was the best. Friendly staff, lots of good advice about the city. In some ways This is a lot like eating at someone,s home. if you like that...

This was then the excuse she used as to why our food took two hours to come for just the first two courses - after this we gave up. During this time no one even asked us for a drink to keep us entertained (surely you would want people to purchase more drinks?)
The owner is the big blonde lady who can come across very rude when our party was only ever very polite to her, you'd think she was the customer! At the end we were merely trying to explain why our time in her restaurant was so...
