Babbelut — Restaurant in Ghent

I had a thoroughly enjoyable lunch here. I was treated to a delicious meal of pork cheeks, braised in Westmalle Dubbel, served with perfectly cooked frites. The beer selection is excellent, and the staff is friendly and efficient. Although they have a very comfortable outside seating area overlooking the Vrijdagmarkt, I’m glad I sat inside. It’s a beautiful space, with an exposed brick well, old decorative tile and metal framing in the ceiling from the building’s prior use (maybe as a warehouse?)....

This turned out the best experience for our weekend in Gent! We were turned away from another place I’d been to before as we forgot to make a Saturday reservation, but I was still craving a good stoverij as I talked it up to my Dutch travel buddies… this place did not disappoint! We have eaten lunch at this place and we loved it. We went 3 adults and 2 very young kids. The pork cheek was delicious, the meat was excellent. The spaguettis with vegetables were generous and also delicious, and the soup of the day tasted very good.
