De Jacob — Restaurant in Ghent

Me and my mother often come here for an afternoon drink and an ice cream! They have Delicious Coupes Dame Blanche!

Although sometimes it feels like there isn't always the same amount of chocolate sauce.

We had lunch at this place, I chose the stoofvlees which were not traditionally served with pig cheeks instead of beef. I personally don't mind and think this tastes a lot better. The meat was incredibly soft, the sauce was delicious dark and thick. The fries were okay, too thick for my preference.

I must say I loved the meat so much, I kinda wanted another piece, but then again I am also a big eater. Great salad, fast...

Unfortunately we received a rather surly welcome from the waiter outside this restaurant. We had neatly folded our Bromptons and wanted to eat on the terrace but were told in a rude tone of voice that bikes were required to be stored across the street, even though the terrace was virtually empty. Nice to have a drink. Food seemed good on paper but very disappointed in real life. Pasta was dull, only taste like cream. My partner's pasta with mushrooms was tasteless and burnt. Basic table supplies where not furnished : no salt, no pepper, no bread and no table set. French speaker in a land of flemish, could that be the reasons of that unprofessional service?
