Garage à Manger — Restaurant in Ixelles - Elsene

The place is nice but the service is bad. We had a reservation but, they only ‘booked’ for 45 min. The waitress gave us a deadline to leave the table before she even said hi. It’s not that I stay hours & hours in a place but the waitress was rude and the ‘deadline’ of 45 min to choose everyone’s dishes, get served, eat, pay & leave is not appreciated. We left 10 min after we arrived due to their bad service. The pizzeria nearby is great & good for families as well. COMMENT TO THE REPLY: Kindly note that we have never said that we were arriving at 11.30 to have lunch. Never. The restaurant made this up. Therefore, we weren't late as they mention. Their whole reply is nonsense. Luckily, we are not the only ones mentioning their rude & unefficient service. See all comments. The conlusion is the same: avoid this place and go to the pizzerias 5 min walking from there - they offer a nice service and are nice with kids, showing them how the pizzaiolo works. Utterly horrendous "food". They served my starving girlfriend one singular undercooked, unseasoned egg (actually less than one egg, it was mostly yolk and about half of the egg white boiled into a staggeringly uneatable witches' brew snot-thing), with a side of "parmesian crumble" of equal quality to the egg itself (basically cheese rind, also extravagantly unseasoned). It came with bread - a stale, weeks old imitation of real bread that would have been more useful to mix with cement and build the foundations of a house with. Atmosphere was nice though, and my cappuccino was not half bad (although making "bad" cappuccino would be a Herculean feat that, judging by the food, they'd be perfectly capable...

the place looks very funky with a really nice atmosphere which is all ruined by the rude and unprofessional stuff. We had to stand for 10 minutes because they could not find our reservation. There is nothing vegan in the menu (not one thing), i was told that they cannot remove the cheese slice from a sandwich (!) so i can order that, it took them 1 hour to bring us 3 sandwiches and a soup which was not even the soup i have ordered. I complained and the cook or whoever that was, was very rude and even aggressive with us. Truly terrible service even for the low standards of Brussels. If they ever hire professional stuff i would go back...
