La Locanda — Restaurant in Ixelles - Elsene

I wanted to have dinner there and the menu on the outside door didn't mention dessert. I have a sweet tooth. When I entered and asked whether they served desserts as well, one of the cook (chef ?) just said no. However when I turned around I noticed they indeed had desserts in a small fridge and Google's pictures here shows desserts. Weird... Are they picking which customer they want to serve or not ? In any case they just blatantly lied to my face. There was still free seats inside and I was on my own. Food may have been good (I won't know!) but definitely not a recommend place if you are looking for...

À fuir... Clients réguliers du restaurant, nous l'avions un peu délaissé suite au manque d'accueil du patron, qui pourtant nous reconnaissait parfaitement... Nous y sommes retournés néanmoins un soir, mais mal nous en a pris! Ainsi, un des convives commande des pâtes aux champignons des bois et à l'huile de truffe, mais celle-ci était inexistante. Il le signale en fin de repas et le patron (et cuistot) reconnaît "avoir oublié", gênant lorsque le plat a été choisi pour l'ingrédient... Mais nous n'avons reçu aucune compensation, aucun geste commercial, même pas d'excuses, juste un "ça arrive"! Mais pire encore... Tandis que la table voisine avait commandé une grappa, la personne concernée en boit une gorgée puis laisse le reste dans son verre. Une fois les clients partis, le patron vient chercher et emporte religieusement dans la cuisine ouverte sur le restaurant ladite grappa et il la reverse dans la bouteille... Nous avons signalé au patron que nous l'avions vu faire. Il est resté sans réaction, autrement dit, c'est un geste qu'il lui arrive de pratiquer... Bref, nous avons été heureux de n'avoir pas choisi le vin en pichet. Mais s'il pose ce geste devant la clientèle, que se passe-t-il en son absence ? Là non plus, aucun geste commercial ne fut proposé... Nous avons enfin constaté que les clients sont devenus moins nombreux qu'ils ne l'ont été il y a un temps, il s'agit d'un restaurant en perte de vitesse. Mais comment pourrait-il en être autrement lorsqu'on voit le peu de considération que le patron porte à sa clientèle ! Bref, restaurant À FUIR si vous ne voulez pas manger après...

I usually feel not too good to give an average rating for the food when I see that the owner is cooking. However, I hope it helps to improve. The owners are super cute and nice people, however the food I found quite average. I took truffel pasta which was ok, but nothing wow. I admire truffel pasta in general, but not this time, strangely it was lacking taste. Panacotta was too steady. I really hope the owners find inspiration to improve and maybe try food before serving (to check if there is enough salt, cheese and taste...
