Gusto Trattoria — Restaurant in Ixelles - Elsene

Avoid at all cost.

Appalling service, obnoxious waiter and owner. Both non verbal and verbal behaviours are rude, mocking and abrupt.

First, the waiters told us to clear the way and sit at another table minutes after we sat down. Second of all, the antipasti were greasy, cheap. It's miles away from being authentic Italian food. Our dishes were served cold after a very long waiting time. We dared pointing it out kindly. The waiter and owner both smirked and laughed at us, then replied that we should "just pay and go right away" if we didn't like it because they didn't care about our opinions and basically called us dumb.

We felt ganged up upon.

I must stress that there were 3 of us, one of us being a 84 year old lady in a wheelchair. Our neighbors from the table next door were astounded as well. It created a really uneasy atmosphere for everyone else around.

Someone else commented about the owner being physically rough and I completely agree. His gestures were threatening, he would get physically close to us while telling us to leave.

To top it all, there is nothing Italian about this place. Neither the food, nor the hospitality.

Please don't support them, don't waste your time and energy and go to any other real Italian restaurant around. There is so many genuine and welcoming...

Really just amazing. The staff was so nice and friendly and I just had such a good time. I had the Scampi Fritti and they were delicious. The food come very quick and is amazing the taste is nice and the display is nice. If you’re near here and in Brussels go here for a nice dinner. Now the only con about this restaurant is that the time that I came here was a time where everyone was smoking but this is why I sat inside because there’s no smoking inside. L'apparenza inganna, e tanto purtroppo. Il locale si presenta "italianissimo" ma nessuno parla italiano a quanto pare. Abbiamo ordinato due primi che, sulla carta, sembravano essere molto interessanti:

1. strozzapreti con un sugo ai polipi e vino,
2. bomboloni con crema di carciofi e bresaola. Aggiungo che era abbastanza presto e siamo stati tra i primi a essere serviti. Credendo, forse, di avere a che fare con gente che non conosce i vari tipi di pasta, ci viene servito un piatto di trofie anziché di strozzapreti, e questo avrei potuto al limite accettarlo facendo finta di nulla... ciò che invece non accetto è la qualità del sugo il cui gusto era ancora troppo acido a causa del vino che non è stato fatto sfumare abbastanza: le basi della cucina, queste sconosciute! I ravioli erano accettabili ma il ripieno era tiepido e anche qui abbiamo preferito non far presente il problema al personale: la musica alta e il rumore di sottofondo renderebbero complicata un'eventuale "conversazione" (vi svelo un segreto: esistono dei pannelli fonoassorbenti).
