The Lucky Llama Irish Bar — Restaurant in La Paz

Shocking. I ordered a Jacket Potato with baked beans and cheese, something an Irish pub should get right. Never have I had baked beans so undercooked that they were crunchy. It was like being served a potato stuffed with tiny pebbles. The potato also wasn't cooked well. I suspect it needed longer in the microwave...

The music was also so loud inside that conversation was impossible. They wanted to advertise their music taste to the whole of La Paz it seems. Although I enjoyed the music choice, turn it down a bit so you don't need to shout for a conversation.

It's an expensive place by Bolivian standards. While it's still cheap compared to back home, I expect quality for the prices being charged here.

In the interest of fairness, I will disclose that I had visited previously and had a burger. I will say that the burger was alright, but a tad on the expensive side.

However, not being able to cook baked beans is sacrilegious. You can't call yourself a chef when you mess...

Lucky llama is such a great place to chill out, have a drink, food, play pool, watch a game or party. The staff are super friendly and always happy to help out and chat about random things. The prices are reasonable too with a few happy hours throughout the day. Jhonny is the coolest, nicest guy you'll ever meet. He does a fantastic job running the place with owner Jack (who sadly we didn't get to met). He has so many stories about travel, advice, and just generally a lovely man. The team started a walking tour, which was incredibly insightful, so I highly recommend you choose them. You even get a cocktail after the tour if you need any more reason to sign up. Good food, lovely setting however disappointed to be told after our meal that it was cash only as they had trouble with card issuers. Asked which card I would be using, when I told them they announced that was a card they had problems with. Not enough cash on us to pay the bill so remarkably the card machine came out and processed the remaining amount without problem. Large group next to us also told cash only.
