It is not the easiest task to choose a hotel on the other side of the world from your cozy surroundings back home. Of course you check Tripadvisor and a few other sites before finally making your decision. But still, you never know. If you by chance are going to La Paz in Bolivia, trust me on this: Stay at Hotel Sagarnaga. You will not be disappointed. Good prices, really nice staff, clean comfortable rooms and perfectly situated in the city. Most staff speak really good English and they understand service. Breakfast is simple but good enough for you to make it until lunch. Also, should you have any desires to climb a mountain, ride a bike, go on a bustour to Lake Titicaca etc you have several agencies of which Jiwaki would be one I would recommend just 10-50 meters from the hotel. And yes, La Paz is situated at 3700 masl and you might, no, you should be very careful upon arrival and give it at least 48 hrs of rest before you attempt any kind of activity. Hence Hotel Sagarnaga: Within 60 seconds distance you have ATM´s, Money exchange, Good restaurants, small stores to buy your water to have in the hotel room while you rest and try to get oxygen into your lungs. In other words, Hotel Sagarnaga offers you a perfect infrastructure to get comfortable and catch...
Read moreWe stayed here for 25 nights while we were sightseeing and doing some fundraising work for several orphanages.||I love the location of the hotel, the fact that so many restaurants and shops are so close by. You can get all your souvenir shopping done within a couple of blocks of the hotel!||My room wasn’t fancy but the room rate was incredibly reasonable and it had everything I needed. I had the most spectacular view over La Paz…. I never got tired of looking out the window!||This hotel is family run and it didn’t take long to feel like very valued guests. Every member of staff we dealt with was friendly and helpful. ||The included breakfast was more than adequate and the coffee was good.||My only suggestion for improvement would be to have bath mats in the bathrooms and maybe some signs to remind guests to try to be quiet late at night. (The behaviour of guests definitely is not the fault of the hotel but some people are inconsiderate!)||Overall we were totally content with our stay and we will definitely be choosing to stay at Hotel Sagarnaga when we return to La Paz next year.||We miss the hotel and staff already, and would definitely recommend this hotel to someone who wanted somewhere clean, safe and...
Read moreWe stayed 8 days in May. This was in a good location and not far from all the places we wanted to see. Like the witches market, basilica of Saint Francis, the Obelisco and the purple tram line we all a short walking distance. They do not have heat, I was freezing every night. We booked and paid for a junior studio suite through our timeshare. It was listed as having a king bed with a sofa bed. What we got was a tiny room with two single beds that couldn’t even be pushed together due to a table built into the wall between the beds. We had a good view, however there were NO dressers nor hangers to put stuff away. We had to live out of our suitcase with no room to place our suitcases out. The beds were hard and the pillows were flat, my back was killing me by the end of our stay. Housekeeping came daily and was adequate, however they only provided soap in the bathroom no shampoo. Breakfast was good and the girls were always friendly. Other then the normal buffet items they have out you get to choose from a scrambled or fried egg or a pancake. We ate dinner there one night and had an awesome burger. We would not stay here again, for the amount of money we paid (timeshare) we are used to having...
