If you are on a mid range budget as I was, this place has to be the number one place to stay in Phnom Penh. If you would rather avoid handing over thousands of dollars in deposit to a Cambodian landlord, which you could easily lose and, if you want to avoid being hit with extortionate electricity bills each month (I was being charged 250$ per month for the electricity just for use of one air conditioning unit at night while I slept before I moved into Aussie XL), try this place. I rented a very comfortable, large studio room for 450$ per month. Downstairs is one of the best bars in Phnom Penh and one of the most popular kitchens. I do not give 5/5 willy nilly. The main reason why I give Aussie XL 100% is because of the Nepalese connection. Anyone who has been to Nepal knows that as a result of evolving alongside the most extreme nature on the planet, the Nepalese are amongst the most peaceful people on the planet and Lama (Aussie XL manager) is the best manager in this country. Aussie XL really does offer an oasis from the heat, light, noise and dust of Phnom Penh. Thank you Lama and all of the staff at Aussie XL. I will...

As my friends were getting out of the pool said creepy man made comments about going back checking the camera to see the girls getting out of the pool. Very uncomfortable situation. Manager of the bar laughed with the creep instead of kicking him out....
Read moreTaste of the food was okay but I was disappointed by the rather poor quality of the meat of my chicken roast. Also, unfortunately, Aussie XL lacks a bit in atmosphere: You would expect an Australian theme or something but instead it's just a not-neatly-arranged bar with stools and tables which could be anywhere in the world. No Australian beer on the menu. Compare this to Irish pubs, German beer gardens, Italien pizzerias or even Australian bars in other cities around the world. I believe that if you name your bar/restaurant after your home country it should...
