I always hesitate when giving low marks to businesses, especially small ones that are locally operated- but this review has been earned. As a vegetarian, when I’m in Canmore I always drop by Harvest for their vegetarian chilli and salad. It’s an amazing meal and the cafe itself is cozy and if you can score a table it also has a great view and vibe. On my previous visits the owner has been nothing but fantastic. It’s usually order at the counter, but she comes over with a pencil and paper and takes down our order as I’m usually with the kids etc. Yesterday was a bit bizarre, I was with the kids and my parents so I requested the server to please take down our order. She argued with me how they only do order at the counter. I explained to her I have been there before and they have helped out- that I’m travelling with two seniors and a two children and I can’t remember their orders. She looked completely blank and told me how I wanted her to do this when the till was in the counter. I explained to her in the past “you folks walked over with a pencil and paper”- her response was “Oooooookkkkkkk”. I was disappointed in this, it was hurtful and shameful when I really wanted some small help after a longer than usual trip- I realize I don’t have a visible disability but she was unkind in this situation when we were all a bit fatigued. She eventually came over and took our order and I thanked her. I wasn’t done my meal when they turned the lights out in the restaurant. Their sign says they were open till 4pm. And they turned their lights out at 3pm. I asked if they were closed and they said they closed at 3pm. It was about 3:05 and I told them I would finish my meal. I rushed to finished my meal while others with me rushed to use the washroom. On our way out an elderly man tried coming in but they told him “sorry were closed “ . He turns back and says “ so your sign is lying then?” He was referring to their open till 4pm sign. The server without missing a beat says “ sorry the boss says we are closed”.they turned him away. I have never in my life seen such poor service and I was deeply dissatisfied as I have been going to years to this location and restaurant. I will never be going back, the way you treat your customers matters- and I’m really sad that as a business their choices have led them in...
Read moreWe were looking for a place to eat lunch this past Saturday, and checked my Yelp app. I searched and came across a place called Crazy Weed. That place was super busy, and so we went to Iron Goat. The Iron Goat was closed for a private function. My wife looked up a soup and sandwich type restaurant, and came up with Harvest. It wasn't super busy when we arrived, around 12:20 and we ordered our lunches. Its a small place with wooden tables and chairs, with an upper and lower seating area and outdoor patio. I had the chicken curry wrap with soup (squash), my wife had the tomato and basil with the same squash soup. My son had the clubhouse, and my other son had a kids grilled cheese. The kids meal comes with a cookie and a drink. All the sandwiches and wraps are grilled on a panini press and were pretty tasty. I thought the soup was going to be creamier, but it was almost more like a broth. I ended my meal with a piece of carrot cake which was pretty tasty. This all for about $50 dollars. It's a little pricey IMO for what you get. The restaurant got busy after we sat down, and it took a while for the food to come out as well. Overall the food was tasty, but the soups were a little disappointing. Not much substance, and the it was served luke warm. *will try Crazy weed next time in town.
Will I go back ? Maybe for some of the baked goods.

Read moreI recently came to this establishment to have lunch with my family. Upon entering we were greeted by a friendly server and we decided to order the curry chicken sandwich, butternut squash soup, a brie chicken sandwich, and a caesar chicken sandwich.
We decided to sit outside since it was a reasonably warm day. We were given glasses of water in which we found sediment. After a long wait for the food to arrive (20-30 mins), we recieved our food from the server. Our first bites were tragic.
The curry chicken sandwich was repulsive: the combination of overpowering mango chutney and bland near-frozen chicken was exceedingly sweet. The soup was extremely bland and tasted like baby food, however, when we added some salt and pepper, it was much better.
The cleanliness of this establishment was good, the staff was welcoming, and the views from outside were beautiful. The last time we had come a while ago the food was a lot better and overall much tastier. I recommend tweaking the recipes to add more flavour. The chicken curry sandwich was too sweet and the other sandwiches needed work too. Please fix...
