A Must Visit in Banff.
Went here during the early afternoon for a quick bite to eat. Stood at the counter in the front for 5 minutes waiting to be sat, saw multiple staff members walk by but no one actually acknowledged me until the server who came to seat me. It was just for myself so she asked me to direct myself to the back bar. Once sat, the bartended greeted me but was rather frantic and disorganized muttering that “the servers keep seating his section rather than taking tables for themselves and helping out”. Working in this industry I fully understand and respect the fact that they were likely coming off of the lunch rush… and probably just picking up the pieces now that there are only a few tables sat (roughly 10 people counted throughout the whole restaurant). I get it, but I also don’t want to feel like a burden when I am coming in to enjoy your space. Halfway through the experience the bartender did seem to get his footing and his demeanour was much more friendly and inviting. Perhaps a better seating system (hostess) or an extra bar hand during this time would have been helpful for the staff to not feel so overwhelmed. Made a food order “Camarones Rancheros”. Pan fried shrimp, house-made ranchero sauce, mezcal honey vegetables, Mexican rice, black bean refritos and a charred lime for $30. All I can say is “Damn kitchen, great job, worth every penny.” It was such a flavourful dish…I haven’t had that much flavour in a Mexican dish while out and about in years. Nailed it. Would have walked backed there and high-fived everyone if I could. I left happy and satisfied because of that…and will also be back because of it. Just wish the service side had nailed it out too. By the way, this is a tequila bar with a pretty amazing selection, so if you like tequila this is the...
Read moreWent for the budget tacos and margs, but you get what you pay for!🤭😶
We went for late night happy hour at Anejo and got basically every taco since they were only 3 bucks each and half of all the margaritas! Plus the table side guac!
The tacos, especially barbacoa was wayyy overloaded with bland beef that was really difficult to get through with the lack of other toppings or tortillas. There are no onions or cilantros on the tacos, and the server looked kind of confused when we asked for raw onions and limes after our tacos came. Also, every single taco came with lots of plain red cabbage. Really makes you question the menu.🤔 Overall, favourite taco was carnitas but we have had much better elsewhere. The fish and chorizo were the worst flavours.
As for margs, we had the blood orange, ginger, watermelon mezcalita, and cadillac. The first 3 were all thier own cocktails, nothing like a margarita!! Call me a purise but really they had no margarita flavour but were tasty on thier own. Really appreciated the cool grasshopper rim! I asked if I could replace the blanco tequila in my cadillac marg since I was not getting a strong enough tequila flavour wanted a reposado tequila instead but the sever said it would be an extra charge to do a different liquor, which I can understand.
Overall, the prices got me in the door but I would not visit again due to lack of flavour and quality. My favourite part was the guac which was made table side and very fresh, other than that there is not much to...

This was hands down one of the worst dining experiences I’ve ever had. From the moment we walked in, the service was appalling. I’m still unsure whether it was due to our race or just sheer incompetence, but the way we were treated was deeply disrespectful.
The manager, Jenn was shockingly aggressive and unprofessional. She came out barking at us because my kids had a small order of McDonald’s fries with them. There were no signs anywhere stating that outside food was prohibited, yet she treated us like we were breaking some major law. Her tone and attitude were completely out of line — she clearly needs serious training on how to speak to customers, let alone manage a team.
The rest of the service was just as bad. We had two tables, and while one group had already finished eating, the other was still waiting to be served. No coordination, no courtesy. I had to repeatedly ask for water refills, and when the server finally brought a bottle, they just dropped it on the table without pouring it — as if we were inconveniencing them.
To top it all off, they had the nerve to automatically charge an 18% tip as a mandatory fee. For what? Rudeness and neglect?
Do yourself a favor and spend your money elsewhere. There are plenty of restaurants with better food, better service, and staff who actually treat their guests with...
