Based of my our families experience. We came here during the business of New years eve were all the restaurants had either reservations or just not seating. All other restaurants at this time were a wait time of 1 to 2 hours and coming from a full activity with family in banff this family of 5 plus friends of 4 we needed something warm and that could accommodate us. We walked in and looking at their sign they were about to close with 10 mins left. They did not shy away from helping and serving us normally restaurants would have to turn you down because of the kitchen closing. This place didnt mind having us. They actually closed the restaurant just for us which was pretty funny. You go to Banff and we all know its a tourist spot and yes prices of everything here are a bit more than in the city however we were looking for portion sizes and it was definitely worth the price. Service was amazing and they always made sure the kids were always happy. Food it the spot after being outdoors. We all wanted something that had noodles and rice with they covered. Definitely something you should try if your looking for an Asian style...
Read moreI recently had the pleasure of dining at Chaya in Banff, and it was an outstanding experience from start to finish.
The moment I walked in, I was greeted with a warm and friendly atmosphere. The restaurant's cozy and inviting decor made me feel right at home. The staff were exceptionally welcoming and attentive, ensuring that every aspect of my meal was perfect.
The menu at Chaya is diverse and offers a fantastic range of Japanese dishes. I started with the yakitori, which was grilled to perfection. The skewers were tender, juicy, and full of flavor, making them an ideal appetizer.
For the main course, I enjoyed a hearty bowl of udon. The noodles were perfectly cooked, and the broth was rich and savory, with just the right amount of seasoning. It was a comforting and satisfying dish that exceeded my expectations.
Another highlight of my meal was the salmon bowl. The salmon was incredibly fresh and expertly prepared, served over a bed of rice with a delightful mix of vegetables and sauces. The combination of flavors and textures was...
Read moreI lived in Japan and became a ninja. To fuel my ninja prowess I require the most authentic and best ramen available. Chaya is that place in Alberta. The ramen is the most authentic I have had and an excellent and filling dining option.
For non-ramen eaters there are great curry options as well as limited sushi and rice balls (it's a thing in Japan, onigiri, look or up). The restaurant is small, so very small like traditional ramen shops in Japan so get there early for searing or order to go and eat in the park if there is no room.
Staff are super friendly and if you speak Japanese (which I do) they have those maintenance conversations on top of prompt and great service. Prices are Banff standard, so about 15% more than paying any where else non touristy and in my opinion worth every penny.
It is literally the only restaurant I stop in every time I'm in Banff, around once month in the winter and twice a month in the summer post hiking.
If you dont go you are missing out on a small slice of Nihon (Japan) in...
