Date of Visit: Feb 11, 2023 While Roguetrippers were in Banff we were looking for a good place to have lunch. We didn’t want a full sit down meal, just something we could take out and enjoy – either in a park, or om the go. We came upon Hankki Korean Street food, and it sounded fun. I didn’t know what to expect, As I had never had this type of food before.

I wont lie – I did a bit of panic ordering – as the car was running, and there was no parking nearby – and not knowing what to order – I made the best choice I could think of in a hurry. The hotdogs looked so fun, but I didn’t think they were beef so I avoided them. Turns out they are beef or chicken – which I learned later.

Hankki means ‘one meal’ in Korean. they provide the most traditional and authentic Korean street foods to guests

I ended up ordering 2 meals that I thought would travel well – since the car was running. The Chee Bop and the Bulgogi chicken. They come complete with veggies, rice, great sauces, and are loaded with chicken. The meal looks like it is a small snack, but these are very filling and satisfying. The flavours are amazing, and quite tasty. The service at the restaurant was very nice. The lady was very engaging, and socialbe – she clearly knew this was a new experience for me, and was very helpful to let me know what I was ordering and what to expect. She was very kind and helpful. I do wish I had ordered one of their corn dogs and their Honey Butter fries.

The prices are very reasonable. I was pleasantly surprised how inexpensive this lunch was.

This is very popular place – while I was there – so many people kept filing in. The place was jumping with activitiy and the staff were extremely busy.

What a fantastic place to grab...

A Flavorful Dive into Korean Street Food at Hankki Banff

On a recent visit to Hankki Banff, located at 206 Buffalo Street, we indulged in a delightful array of Korean street food that left a lasting impression. Opting to dine indoors, we enjoyed the vibrant atmosphere alongside fellow travelers, adding to the authentic experience.

Culinary Highlights:

Mozzarella & Sausage Corn Dog with Potato Add-On: This corn dog offered a perfect blend of gooey mozzarella and juicy sausage, encased in a crispy batter. The addition of crunchy potato cubes elevated the texture, making each bite a delightful contrast of flavors and crunch.

Hankki Original Corn Dog: A classic favorite, this corn dog featured a crispy battered exterior with a juicy sausage center. Paired with Hankki's array of special sauces, it was a simple yet satisfying treat.

Crave Combo: This combo was a standout, combining a small serving of Hankki Bokki—sweet and spicy noodles and dumplings—with our choice of corn dog. The interplay of the chewy tteokbokki and the crispy corn dog created a harmonious balance of textures and flavors.

Hankki Banff's commitment to delivering authentic Korean street food shines through in their offerings. The cozy indoor setting provided a welcoming environment to savor these dishes, and the presence of fellow travelers added to the communal dining experience. For those seeking a flavorful and authentic Korean street food experience in Banff, Hankki is...

I was appalled to see the filthy condition of the store. The floor was littered with all kinds of food waste, and an employee was shockingly pulling out cupbap containers from the trash bin between the dessert shop and the restaurant, all in plain view of customers. The restaurant was filled with diners, either eating or waiting in line, and yet, in the middle of the establishment, an employee wearing gloves was reaching into the trash bin to retrieve containers and stacking them nearby. This is completely unacceptable and utterly unsanitary. The employee continued this disturbing behavior the entire time I was in line. I couldn’t understand why they were pulling out paper containers that don’t even need to be recycled, but I suspect it might have been to reduce the volume of the trash by nesting them together. Is that correct? I demand a thorough explanation from the manager or owner of the Banff location of Hankki as to why such unsanitary practices are occurring in full view of customers. Immediate corrective action must be taken. Who would ever want to see an employee organizing trash in the middle of a restaurant? Due to this disturbing experience, I will never visit this location again, and I will be advising others to avoid it as well.
