A small yet beautiful location and atmosphere, especially when the sun went down and the rooms lighting was illuminated! A bit tight on seating with very small tables which were over crowded with each tables glass bottled water and glasses, plus our wine and drink glasses and even more so once our apps and dinner plates arrived. Appetizers were a disappointment; the Calimari crust and sauce was flavourful and presented wonderfully! But unfortunately we were shocked at the small portion size for the price; which couldn't have been more than 4-5oz with the center meat well over fried and rubbery to boot! Frites were crisp and cooked to perfection!
Our bread board was simply sad; a good portion of breads was presented but not nearly enough spreads and oil/Bals dip to accommidate the amount of bread. Their breads are clearly made in house which is a plus, in the fact that it is not seen very often in most restaurants, but they do need to revisit their recipes, as the breads were well under salted and therefore flavourless without a spread or dip.
The Linguini was beautifully presented, with housemade noodles tossed in a light sauce that will give your taste buds a seafood punch to die for! But unfortunately the lobster was overcooked and rubbery; more than likely from being over simmered in the pasta's own sauce. If they grilled the lobster and presented it atop the pasta it would make this dish outstanding and even push it up a notch on the flavour dial. Or maybe just switch to using Langostino's instead.
The Steak sandwich was a big disappointment to say the least! The Flank was not cook to the requested temp -but this common and can happen anywhere. *More importantly the steak was not seasoned whatsoever and is sliced far to thick to be eaten as a sandwich. Unfortunately the Ciabatta bun was filled with a overpowering, and offputting burnt flavour that more than likely is due to being brushed with too much cheap olive oil before hitting a very hot grill, which made the oil reach its smoke point well before even making the grill marks on...

I purchased food from Culaccino for some Saturday evening takeout. Upon walking up to the door I was very disappointed with the lack of clear COVID. I saw people walk in and out beside me very freely through a very tight front entrance without anyone directing traffic. This definitely raised some concerns and made me uncomfortable waiting at the front hostess table. Watch out for the people leaving and exiting the restaurant if you happen to go inside.
As for the food, I ordered the gnocchi tartufo. This dish had great flavours with the mushrooms and creamy sauce. It has a lot of potential, however the gnocchi itself was over cooked and mushy. It tasted a bit like mashed potatoes. The baby kale main Caesar salad seemed like it didn't have the freshest leaves (wasn't crisp and weird aftertaste) and a very fishy anchovy taste in the dressing. I didn't enjoy this at all. Especially for the price I paid for this salad, it was even more disappointing. It definitely didn't hit the spot for a nice fresh Caesar salad. The fried chicken sandwich was very tasty, I thoroughly enjoyed this dish. The chicken was juicy with an excellent crunch to it. All the ingredients worked very well together.
Overall, I was disappointed with Culcaccino. There is a lot of potential but the quality and consistency needs to be there. The 4.4 stars on google reviews set high expectations for me. It seems like this is another very average restaurant with high reviews simply because it is in Burlington. As someone who has travelled around and sampled many different restaurants, personally I feel 3 stars is a more...
Read moreWe went to dinner here with another couple on a Saturday night. Overall we had a very enjoyable evening. The environment is cool It's just very busy inside. It's not a well laid out space and they certainly pack it tight. We had a table between two doorways so there was constantly traffic going by our table, both guests and servers. So we didn't love the location of the table but it was fine. The food was pretty good. We shared the brussel sprouts to start and they were the highlight of the meal. They were absolutely excellent. For our mains, two people had the gnocchi, one person had the burger, and I had the orecchiette with sausage and rapini. Everybody enjoyed their meals and the portion sizes were just right. For dessert we had tiramisu and salted caramel cheesecake. I thought the dessert options were lacking as there were only the two. The tiramisu was just okay. It was very wippy and fluffy as opposed to being rich and creamy. It wasn't bad but but not something I'm going to rush out to have again. As for the salted caramel cheesecake, it was an unbaked dish and had a very thick layer of caramel which took away from the dessert - probably a half inch top layer of caramel. Didn't like it and wouldn't get it again. Everybody was just caramel.
Service was okay. The server was super nice, but probably had too many tables. Seem to always be rushing us. When she checked on us she would be walking by without really stopping and just saying you guys are good right? The owner or manager did stop by at the end of our meal to thank us for coming by and ask us how...
