If you’re looking for a meal that’s delicious, filling, and packed with flavor, Falafel King is an absolute must-visit. I stopped by during a busy convention weekend, and their food not only satisfied my hunger but left me craving more. Every bite was a burst of freshness, spice, and hearty goodness—perfect for recharging between events.
The Falafel: Crispy, Flavorful, and Perfectly Spiced The star of the show was, of course, the falafel. Golden-brown on the outside, tender and herb-packed on the inside—no dryness here! Whether in a wrap or as part of a platter, each bite had the ideal crunch-to-softness ratio. The tahini sauce drizzled over it was creamy with just the right tang, elevating the dish even further.
The Donair: A Meaty, Savory Delight I also tried their donair, and wow—what a treat! The seasoned meat was juicy and well-spiced, wrapped in warm, pillowy flatbread with fresh veggies and that signature garlic sauce. It was so satisfying that I could’ve eaten two (but the portion was generous enough that I didn’t need to!).
The Baklava: A Sweet, Nutty Finale No meal here is complete without their baklava. Layers of flaky, buttery phyllo dough packed with honey-drenched nuts—each piece was the perfect balance of crispy and sticky-sweet. It was the ideal dessert to round out an already amazing meal.
Why I’ll Be Back Generous portions kept me full for hours—no convention hunger crashes! Fresh ingredients made every dish taste vibrant and high-quality. Friendly service even during peak hours—they handled the crowd like pros.
Final Verdict: 10/10 – A Must-Try for Mediterranean Food Lovers! Falafel King didn’t just feed me; it made my convention weekend better. Between the falafel, donair, and baklava, I’m already planning my next visit. If you’re craving hearty, flavorful food that leaves you completely satisfied, this place is a king for a reason.

Read moreWe ordered takeout from Falafel King during our vacation, and it was by far the best food we had during the trip. The order consisted of: [1] donair poutine, [2] donair wrap, [3] falafel wrap, and [4] beef shawarma platter. First off, Falafel King is very liberal with the amount of donair they layered on both the poutine and the wrap - they were loaded with so much delicious donair that it puts my Bay Area-local restaurants to shame. And it was good, like so tasty. For the poutine, the gravy was just right - it was neither overly watery or viscous.. The yellow potatoes used in the poutine were fried on demand, so they came out extra crispy. The beef shawarma platter was also pretty loaded with delicious meat, rice, veggies, and large-sized pita (the same ones used to make the wraps). To top it off, the order came with a free side of Baklava. The hot sauce used in the wraps had some real heat to it, even though it wasn't slathered on.
Service was fast, and the two gentlemen working the counter were very courteous. As for the layout of the restaurant, it seemed clean - but we did not linger given the order...
Read moreWe had been on a tour all day, after freshening up we went looking for a place to eat dinner. We walked into the Falalfel King at 7:50pm did not notice they close at 8pm. We were greeted immediately when we walked in. We apologized and were set to leave when the owner said he would serve us with no problem as he had some closing things to attend to. He then took the time to explain various items on the menu & would custom make what ever we wanted to order. He made a few suggestions - everything sounded wonderful. We both settled on the Chicken Schwarma Wraps. They were delicious and quite large. We agree with other reviewers the dessert piece of baklava is incredible. Don't miss this when downtown ~ tiny little location but a real hidden gem in downtown Calgary. Our only regret was we found this place just before heading back home. the owner waited on us & have have to say, he really understands...
