The girl behind the bar with the dark hair and glasses (who I have just been told is the general manager?!?! What kind of GM complains about having customers and ignores people standing at the bar holding cash in hand??) should find another line of work. Seriously. I worked in bars for years and if I ever had the misfortune of working with such a foul, rude bartender I would have spent more time apologising for her B.S attitude and conduct than pouring drinks.
Example #1: complaining openly about having a room full of people spending their money (and no the room was not even close to full). Totally unacceptable to complain about customers that are standing in front of you simply for trying to have a drink.
Example #2: my wife and her friend stood at the bar with cash in hand for over 15 minutes without so much as a "I'll be with you in a minute" - instead she purposefully ignored them and attempted to help the customers that were standing next to them, who told this horrible excuse for a bartender that 'those girls have been waiting here for a long time. You should help them first."
Example #3: she accosted my wife's friend for asking for an easier shot to drink (didn't want straight whisky), snapping "shooters are straight booze and booze isn't easy to drink, sweetheart." - first of all, in the 25 years since I turned 18, I've certainly seen a number of "easier drinking shooters" and in the years that I was pouring drinks for the hundreds of customers per night at the republik or the other places I worked I made gallons of easy drinking shooters for customers. That's part of the job. If you don't know how to make different drinks, you have no business being behind a bar.
Example #4: my beer wasn't cold. Not because of a problem with equipment, but because the "bartender" had a flat of beer cans sitting on the back bar instead of on the cooler, where it belonged.
I could go on but I don't really see the need.
This miserable person has ensured that I'll never spend another ceny in that place. And given the chatter at the other tables, I'm not the only one.
Brutal experience drinking a slightly cool beer out of a can and then leaving to find somewhere else that actually wanted my money and didn't treat us...

Would give negative stars if possible. Will tell anyone that will listen to stay away. They are clearly trying to improve their rating with fake 5 star reviews.
Absolutely the worst service I have ever experienced as someone who lives downtown and goes out almost nightly. Could not be more obvious the server did not want to be there unless she actually told us (short girl/short brown hair/glasses/tattooed arms/wearing a beanie).
Pricing for drinks during happy hour is the same as everywhere else during regular hours. Once happy hour ends its similar to high end cocktail bars which this place definitely is not.
Food does not remotely resemble what the menu depicts and given excuses of running out of things (ordered the Buttermilk Fried Chicken w/red cabbage and apple slaw. What I received was two tiny pieces of burnt fried chicken on a plate with no sides/garnishes. This is listed on the menu as a Dinner Main for $15. It literally was like paying $15 for two pieces of KFC.)
A server asking us to pay the bill half way through our night and start a new tab, when we weren't close to done as she wants to leave but wants the tips from our bills as well. Probably the most unprofessional thing a server can do.
Paid $10 for a ticket at 8 PM for the live show we had zero interest in, just not to be kicked out and able to finish our dinner, only to get to hear the band's friends doing sound check while they goofed off and drank for an hour and a half.
The next day I reviewed my bill, not only was I overcharged for that night, but an additional ~$20 charge was added for the following day despite me never being there the following day.
There are many reviews claiming additional gratuities added on and I know this is what happened here. I appreciate that the GM appears to be reaching out, but the constant similar posts indicate nothing is really being done about it.
So many places in Calgary to spend your money besides a place with horrible service, out of touch pricing and questionable billing mentioned by not just me, but many reviewers here.

Read moreNew Years Eve 2018. The only positive from my experience was being served by Kaylee and Tesse. Great service can't make up for a badly run business. I started with the sliders. Grease and salt. Exactly the kind of food you get on the Stampede grounds. The taste was unremarkable. Next came the Southern Cobb, cold chicken mixed with cold vegetables no taste. Did the chef taste the food? The potato salad was exactly the same. Potatoes and raw veg mixed with some dressing that excited nothing on my palette. Again did the chef taste the food? The apple pie was round and slightly larger then a hockey puck smaller in thickness served cold with a huge scoop of ice cream. Serving packaged apple pie or not heating it in the microwave, I don't know what's worse. Finally to give the King a final chance at redemption I ordered the Beignets to be served with chocolate sauce. What eatery doesn't have pizza and chocolate on the menu? The King Edward has neither. Deep fried pastry that tasted exactly like the sliders because it's cooked in the same deep fry oil with a side of melted Nutella and jam.
The food was terribly bland and unremarkable and so was the music. I would advise all potential diners to stay away form this waste of renovation dollars. The person or persons managing this place should be severely reprimanded. It's a new year I don't want to suggest termination but it should be on the menu like a lot of other things at the...
