Food was good, however, the service was probably the worst service we have had at a high-end restaurant. The service begun with the waitress saying that pretty much anything on the menu could be to accommodate any food restrictions. When I proceeded to order I let her know that I could not eat dairy and therefore could not eat cheese and the butter croissant that was a part of the turkey club, to which she replied that it came with a butter croissant and asked if I would be okay with that. I said no as I cannot have dairy, and she replied ya I got that, I heard you, with attitude. I was in shock with her reply and then asked if the croissant could be substituted for something else, her response was I don't know because it comes with the butter croissant, I will have to check for you. With her attitude she forgot to ask me which side I wanted to accompany my meal, until she went to ask the next person what they wanted and then came back to me. Thankfully, the kitchen was able to accommodate my dairy intolerance and I was able to order the turkey club on sourdough bread.

Our waitress was not attentive and we had to ask for multiple things throughout our service. Coffee and tea was brought to the table without milk or cream, nor a spoon to stir. We had to wait for a cream to come to the table at which point the coffee was cold as we had to wait some time to get it. When we asked for these things she only brought it for one of the people at our table to which we just shared as it was easier than re-asking for it. When asked for ice water I was presented with a glass that was over heaping with ice and no utensil to transfer the ice and due to the shear volume of ice in the glass there was no was I was going to be able to pour my water into the glass of ice that was brought to the table. When a refill was brought to the table the waitress did not remove the empty glasses.

The restaurant was not overly busy and we had to wait over an hour for our food.

When our food was brought over to the table only 3 of the 7 plates were delivered to the correct people. Our waitress brought one meal to the wrong person and then brought it back to the kitchen, placing it under the heat lamp, grabbed a different persons meal to our table, while dads food continued to sit under the lamp. It took some time for the last meal to be brought to the table while it was sorted that the meal placed under the hot lamp was for our table.

To top it off the waitress added an 18% tip to the bill, stating that for a party of 6 or more this top is automatically added, however, we mentioned that the menu states that this 18% tip is for parties of 8 or more and we were a party of 7. The reply was that it automatically added to the bill and she didn't feel like removing it.

On multiple occasions our waitress mentioned that they just opened this restaurant, in a way that insinuated an accused for the issues in the service. Yes, to a degree I can agree with this, however, if you are going to open a high-end restaurant your staff should reflect the level of service you are looking to offer. Being newly open does not excuse the attitude and lack of attentiveness that...

I can only speak for the $30 SummerEats 2-course menu since that’s what I tried.

I just want to preface with saying that the service was absolutely spectacular. The hostess and server genuinely brightened my day, and my server was very attentive! He noticed when I would be done each dish and came out swiftly to collect the dishes. I was very impressed with his timing and ability to set a comfortable pace for the meal. The patio is also so lovely.

Unfortunately, the food didn’t live up to my expectations.

The Cod Ceviche was refreshing, but I feel like it lacked in flavour in comparison with one that my cousin had made for me before. It needs more flavour to complement the lettuce and peas that were served with it.

The Lemon Basil Pasta was delicious and had so much flavour with the cashew cream, but it was overshadowed by the undercooked pasta. Call me dramatic, but undercooked and overcooked pasta are the bane of my existence!! I did let the server know so hopefully they improve on that for the next guest.

On a side note, I learned that this pasta shape was called Radiatori, named after “small radiator” which they resembled. I was impressed with this little tidbit of information that my server gave me after I asked what it was since I’d never seen it before.

I also ordered a cocktail, but I forgot to take a picture of the menu so I’m not sure what it was. It was one with egg whites. It was very strong and I couldn’t taste much besides the alcohol. I feel like it also resembled dish soap water for some reason! Maybe the smell? I was not a fan, but it was reassuring to know that they don’t jip you on the...

Tried The French tonight after raves reviews of the hamilton location.

After tonight I can safely say the kinks have not been worked out.

I was very underwhelmed by the cocktail and drinks menu. Very steep prices for basic drinks. I tried 2 martini's and both lacked flavour. They were $16 each.

The waitress although friendly, made so many mistakes it came close to ruining the night. She didn't introduce herself so I have no idea what her name is but forgot to put in an order for my cocktail. I had to ask 20 minutes later. We got a few add-ons to the main meal that she brought with appetizers after we told her we wanted them with the main, so they were cold by the time the main arrived. After waiting 30 minutes for the main, she brought out the wrong meal altogether so I waited while my meal got cold for them correct my partners.

As for the food. I was highly disappointed. I had salmon crudo to start, it lacked any flavour at all for $20. I had trout as my main and it came in a pool of oil with a few mini potatoes and bland vegetables, topped with shaved plain almonds. My partner had the burger and it was made correctly. The side house salad was good but they used so much vinegar in the dressing it made me cough.

I also found the appetizer menu lacked variety and had limited options.

We skipped dessert but it looked good from what we could see others ordering.

I think I would give this place a second shot but not for a while. They need to work out...

A relatively new restaurant in Cambridge, I had a chance to visit The French in 2025. Overall really good experience and certainly recommend. I had the baseball cut steak prepared medium and it was perfectly delicious. The flatiron was also good but found it a bit too rare for medium rare. Also ordered the potato rosti, hoping it would be akin to the rosti I've enjoyed many times in Switzerland. However while it was also good, it wasn't quite what I was expecting. Drinks were good - they have a variety of interesting and tasty cocktails. Although it wasn't open yet, there is also a substantial patio (as well as at the nearby Foundry restaurant) - can imagine it is quite lively in the summer. Overall The French is a very nice restaurant and definitely worth a visit. I'm looking forward to returning to this part of Cambridge as it was my first time visiting the "Gaslight District" and there seems to be lots more to see & do here.

This was a fantastic dining experience and is worth a visit if you’re in the area. From the moment you walk into the restaurant you are drawn into a calm and elegant atmosphere. The staff all greeted us and were friendly and competent. We ordered multiple drinks and were fairly happy with all of them. The wine selection was good and the mocktail I had was fantastic. All of our apps were delicious and well worth the price. The steak and fries did not disappoint and my Cobb salad was the best I’ve ever had. I was shocked at how much food was on the plate, the quality of the ingredients, and the price. In short, come for the food and stay for the atmosphere. This is a great spot where we felt well taken care of and had fun. It’s a great new spot we’re lucky to have and we’re excited for our next visit !
