Here’s a concise review of Charlie Hamilton’s Pub in Coquitlam:
Ambience & Vibe • Cozy, classic local pub with a small footprint – ideal for a relaxed catch-up with friends or to watch sports on HDTVs . • Some find it a bit cramped when busy , but others appreciate the welcoming, neighborhood feel .
Service & Staff • Many patrons praise the friendly, attentive service and feel it’s a hidden gem . • However, there’s a notable number of complaints about being understaffed, with slow or rude service at peak times .
Food & Drinks • The pub is well-liked for its drinks—particularly cocktails like the “Charlie’s Fabulous Caesar” and Bellini—and solid happy hour specials . • Food opinions are mixed: potato skins and certain pub staples get positive comments, but aircraft burgers, wings, and pizza have drawn criticism for being overcooked, basic, or freezer-style .
Pricing & Value • Known for good-value pricing: beer specials (~$3.50–4.25 during happy hour), affordable burgers on game nights, and overall decent pub deals . • Patrons looking for gourmet food won’t find it—but for casual, value-driven drinks and pub fare, it’s a solid pick.
Ideal For… • Local patrons seeking a laid-back environment, friendly service, sports viewing, and budget-friendly drinks. • Game-night groups during hockey nights (with Canucks promos) .
Caveats • Can be loud and understaffed, especially when crowded, leading to delay or poor service . • Food quality varies—some love it, others feel it’s hit-or-miss; if you’re picky, consider this.

Read morei tried to like this place, i really did. i came for my first time with a friend about a month ago on a Saturday night and enjoyed the atmosphere and drinks. when ordering food i asked for a poutine in which the 1 person working (the host, server, bartender AND cook) - ive heard this is common of them to only have 1 person on shift. she replied and said that the hot water is not working so she cannot make the gravy (not sure how hand washing etc. is happening with no hot water) so i ordered the chicken quesadilla, i ate about half and my friend had a couple bites and we both woke up violently sick with food poisoning. giving them the benefit of the doubt, i went again with the same friend this past saturday. the 1 server on shift spent most of her time outside with customers chatting. i eventually order the chicken panini, i didnt even eat HALF. my friend did not want to chance it , once again i woke up with an insane case of food poisoning. im still going through it as i type out this review.

Read moreHad the strangest interaction here a few weeks ago. Showed up on a Sunday afternoon with 3 gal pals. The host/manager/cook/bartender was the only one on shift. She asked if we were there to drink. We said we were there for lunch and a drink. "well, I'm also the cook, so....." She asked what we liked to drink, offered suggestions. We asked for a drink menu. There was none. One of my friends asked whats on tap? "Its not working". We seated our selves, and drinks came. But nothing else. Ever. No food menus, no one to ask if we wanted another drink, no bill. We finally went up and went to the bar to pay so we could find somewhere else to have lunch. Was strange all around. Maybe this place is all about booze only on weekends, and has to look like they sell food to keep their...
