updated on 25/Mar/24: I have visited Tokki two more times since my last visit and I can say that the food has been consistent and the quality was amazing. I tried the spicy pork rice, and it was a great lunch for $12. Flavourful, good portion, fluffy rice and just enough spice. The plain gimbop I ordered as a side wasn't mushy like last time and it was flavourful. I think the only thing missing was the sesame seeds but that is just for decoration. I'm happy that the quality of rice actually met my expectation. I can recommend TOKKi to others with confidence, I'll visit again and try different menu in the near future. ===== Original Review ===== Had a high expectation after hearing good things about this restaurant from Korean communities and 4.2 Google review. I would give 3.7/5. Visited this place after the lunch hour, so the food court was pretty much empty. The cashier was kind, prompt, and professional. Food came out fast. I really like the 'buzzer' to let you know when the order is ready. Let's talk about the food. The rice in Gimbop (김밥) was slightly mushy and not salted enough. This reminded me of my mom making Gimbop for me when I was a kid. She always wanted to take the 'healthier' choice, so she put minimal salt, no MSG and used mushy rice for better digestion. The last time I asked mom to make Gimbop was probably 20 years ago or something :p... I always said NO or had to ask her to make it extra++ fluffy - then she makes rice that I like. I'll still try their tuna/pork cutlet Gimbops. Many Gimbop/Ddubokki restaurants in Korea make flavored Gimbops super delicious while leaving their original to taste like meh. The Ddukbokki (떡볶이) was interesting. Maybe they use anchovy-based broth? It's definitely not my favourite flavour, but I do remember some traditional Ddukbokki places in Korea with such a taste. Both the rice cakes and the fishcakes had great texture. My honest opinion would be 3.7/5. Maybe some of my friends or my parents might like this. The fried squid was pretty good. Decent portion, and the batter wasn't soggy. However, it wasn't crispy either. I always dip these fried items in Ddukbokki sauce and thus all deep fried items need to be extra crispy. If Tokki can make it crispier, it'll be a killer item for sure. Unfortunately, it doesn't have that magic texture yet. 4/5. Overall, the flavor is rather traditional than what you would normally expect in Korea in 2023. I'm more used to sweet/spicy/clean broth/full of MSG flavour when it comes to Ddubokki. I see a huge potential but some improvements would easily put them 4.5/5 restaurant.

Seen recommendation to come here on social media and decided to come here to give the corn dogs a try. The prices were much cheaper and I ordered the original corndog, Monster Bat corndog and original kimbap. The total came to just under $11 which is pretty value when you compare prices of corndogs to other places; Tokki was significantly cheaper. However, I was a bit disappointed with the original corndog (but for the price you can't really complain?). It was very oily out of the bag and it just tasted like a normal corndog you get frozen from the grocery store. There was nothing special about it or made it stand out. After eat bite, it felt like my mouth had a layer of grease. The Monster Bat was much better as I specifically liked the potato on the outside. This corndog was a lot less oilier than the original but taste wise, it was just okay. The kimbap was decent, though the filling was a different as it was missing spinach and burdock root. Each bite was light, airy with a hint of sweetness. Overall, Tokki is a decent place for some quick cheap lunch/snack. If I am ever in the area again I would give the corndogs another shot or try other items on the menu but I wouldn't necessarily go out of my way to try this place.

As someone who hasn’t had much Korean food, I can say that this food stall is approachable and also affordable! I’ve been told their food taste like comforting, homemade Korean dishes. I got the Original Kimbop ($5.25) which had a good amount of pieces and flavour, although I do prefer the cheese or tuna ones. I also got the Deep Fried Seaweed Rolls, which had a nice crisp exterior but a mild flavour. Paired nicely with the Original Toppoki sauce, which almost reminded me of spicy, tomato soup (in a good way). As these dishes are “combination” foods, they all pair well alongside each other. Going back to the prices of their items, I find it encouraging to have cheaper price points, especially as someone from the outside - it removes the worry of spending an excess of money on something you’re uncertain about.

It didn't taste really great, but I mean it was cheap. Would had been a two star, however, I didn't really like one of the workers attitude. The worker with the blue hair (didn't manage to catch her name), just threw the coins and change to me and when I asked for receipt, she just didn't reply. When I said thank you, too, she just completely ignored me. That kind of ruined the mood. Adding on top of that, my brother only received half a sausage in the corn dog he got. (idk if its supposed to be like)In addition, his corndog was poorly made, with the cheese squirming out. I don't know if that worker just had a bad day that day, but she cannot just decide to ruin two others days, possibly even other peoples, too. Really disappointed. I had high expectations after my friends told me about this place, but... Oof won't ever be back soon. also, if u want to get a corndog that tastes better than the ones here, go to H-Mart, they sell it for basically only $1/corndog soooo much more worth it here.

And yes, I'm creating a random account just to comment this because I usually never ever write...
