My first time here, and the service was excellent. Rhyana greeted us at the door and was friendly and helpful finding us a booth. Our initial server was also excellent with getting our drinks and explaining answers to my many questions about the menu. She even went back to get answers to things I wouldn't expect anyone to know. Kiki was our server afterwards and took our orders and got us our food.
I had the lodge burger and fries whereas my partner had a steak, mashed potatoes, veggies and mushrooms with a side salad.
My meal was excellent. It's clear they use Cavendish frozen bag fries, or at least beer battered ones, but they were cooked well and served warmed so I have no complaints. The Burger was excellent. I'm glad I got the lodge burger as it's a 6oz ground beef patty with pepper and salt lightly seasoned on top. Tastes fresh and doesn't overwhelm the meat. The cheese is real cheddar, bacon was barely noticeable (think a maple glaze would be a bolder choice), and the bun was the best part.
It was a slightly grained French bun that tasted very fresh and reminded me of fresh baked bread I use to have when I was young. Honestly complimented the fresh meat patty very well so it wasn't greasy at all and just made every bite savory.
My partner enjoyed her salad well enough (we both liked the fresh made croutons), liked the mashed potatoes made with onions and shaved red potatoes. The veggies were excellently seasoned in butter and lightly peppered. Tasted quite fresh. She ordered a medium rare steak, but we recieved it quite rare. It actually seemed undercooked in the middle which was fine but made me question whether or not the kitchen was rushing to get it out. It was only seared on the top and bottom (and barely crusted). For a steakhouse you'd expect perfection but steak is also the least consistent dish one can make in a restaurant so all in all it was fine.
The manager, Danela was nice enough to listen to our feedback about taking some extra time on future orders so we were happy.
I think this would be a great place to have a nice family meal or even business dinner. The atmosphere could use some redecorating as it looks like a old 00's Applebee's that needs some polish.
Parking outside is great as it's in a mini outlet mall near Coquitlam center.
Would return to try other menu items and for the very excellent service.
I think we had 4 or 5 different staff ask us if we were enjoying our time even before we brought up the steak.
Prices are quite good for a steakhouse and actual cheaper for those looking for a quality burger or...
Read moreHostess was a little rude and controlling of the front door operations. Phrases such as “I will not sit you a minute sooner than your reserved time.” Is a very bold statement to make. Our family was happy to sit and wait for a clean table but when there were three booths and two clean tables you have to ask why we couldn't be seated? Also having made reservations a month in advance for Father’s Day I was disappointed with the greeting. I had no idea I had to specify where I wanted to sit (not a minute sooner) as it was so lovely to sit right next to the kitchen & bathrooms. Very lovely since the other 5 reservations were not there yet, nor would they be until an hour and a half later (as the tables were still empty when we left). I’m glad they’ll hold you table until the end of time itself, but when there are other patrons who wish to dine wouldn’t it make sense to seat them in a ‘better’ spot? It was nice that the acting manager (and I do mean acting) came by to tell us there was nothing he could do and "If we didn’t like the table we could leave." Thank you sir, for helping make this much easier, let’s ride this out and see how dinner goes. Enough about the seating…the food was terrible! The bruschetta was an under toasted mess. The bread was hardly browned and the toppings were slopped on top. No one at the table wanted it. My son’s steak which he ordered ‘medium’ was more than well done. Blackened would be a better way to describe it. Mine which I ordered ‘medium-rare’ was rare…but actually pink/purple inside meaning it was well under cooked 125F. Mr. Mikes while I praise you during your off-holiday’s and weekend dinner rushes when you’re booked up and are faced with challenges in the many stations your staff simply falls apart. Blame it on leadership and not thoroughly checking your orders before putting them in the window you folks need to step up your game considering there’s a steakhouse just...
Read moreI was at this restaurant celebrating my daughter’s birthday on November 30th. The service was very good as well as most of the food, however my wife ordered the filet mignon (if she is having steak this is her favorite) and was very disappointed, it tasted funny. It was sent back, and they brought out another one 10 minutes later, only to be further disappointed. She took one bite and could not swallow it. It tasted worse than the first one and was sent back. When the manager asked her if she wanted something else, she said no she was no longer hungry, her appetite was lost. When our bill arrived, the steak was on our bill, we had to ask to have it removed. When the manager arrived with the corrected bill, he mentioned that he spoke with the cook and was informed that the steak was in fact “off” and that they had thrown out the rest of the case. We live in Mission and it’s about a 40-minute drive home. About 5 minutes into the drive home my wife started to get sick to her stomach. She was sick the whole drive home and well into the early morning. She was not able to enjoy the rest of the birthday celebrations at home, we were going to have cake and presents for my daughter. The next day she called the restaurant to tell the manager that she had been physically ill all night and was told “I’m very sorry about that, I will call the supplier”. We have been going to Mr. Mikes in Langley for years and have never had this experience. We went to the Coquitlam restaurant because we had recently moved to Mission and felt that it was closer for us. I would like to add that after the rotten stake was taken off our bill of $200 + I still gave a $50 tip. Very disappointed and not likely to return to the Coquitlam location. The only reason the stars are as much as they are is because the...
