While I really like the vibe of this location, I've had a couple crappy experiences and my experience today was enough for me to decide to stop coming to this location. About 6 weeks ago, I ordered a large decaf mocha with oat milk and when I received it, I immediately noticed something was off given how white the oat milk was. After taking a drink it seemed like I was drinking steamed milk and it was completely different from the same drink I've had at this location many times before. I thought the barista perhaps forgot to add the espresso shots but they said they didn't forget but were happy to remake it. The customer sitting beside me also noticed that their drink tasted super weak as well but they chose not to say anything until I brought the issue to the staff's attention. After remaking my drink, no difference...still tasted like steamed milk which I shared with the barista. I noticed the staff talking amongst themselves and fiddling around with the machine and the barista later indicated something like the temperature settings were incorrect (not 100% on this) and they adjusted them to what they should be. They remade my drink for a third time and there was a very slight improvement but not much, which I shared with the staff. In the end, the staff were really good about the whole thing but I still didn't end up with the drink that I'm used to at this location and left feeling disappointed. Fast forward to today and the same thing happened and I ended up with another super weak mocha. To make it a bit worse however, despite asking for light foam because I've been finding the mochas I've been receiving lately full of foam, the drink I received today had tons of foam in it. Rather than be perceived as a problem customer, I'm simply going somewhere else. I stopped going to Starbucks previously because even though I pay over 40% more with tip at JJ Bean for a similar sized mocha, for the most part I found the JJ Bean mocha to be of higher quality with a far more robust flavor profile and ultimately a more fulfilling experience. But at over $9 a pop with tip, I simply refuse to deal with the inconsistent drink quality so I'm tapping out...
Read moreI would 5-star this the staff is amazing and the food/drinks choices are wonderful. However, it has become quite clear that JJ Bean is participating in shrinkflation. We used to come here weekly, but the price increases PLUS a lower amount given leaves us feeling negative about our visits.
We LOVE all the choices of non-cake-y muffins. Over the last few months, though, the vegan muffins have been noticeably smaller--and I don't think we're the only ones that noticed because in the display the staff started propping them up at an angle so they don't look swallowed up by the cup in the tin (which they used to overflow). Once on the plate, you're left with a smallish, more expensive muffin.
I saw other reviews about their drinks being weaker. Maybe that's why both of our lattes weren't filled up all the way. The staff were really cool about filling mine up once I asked, but I hate...
Read moreNothing wrong with the place, coffee is fine and so is the food. However they apparently have an undisclosed 45 minute policy which should be communicated somewhere if it’s going to be enforced. I typically work from coffee shops and have never had an issue, most places know me by name, one even gave me a gift card for Christmas as a thank you. Visited this JJ and did spend a long time there (almost 4 hours). I bought a coffee and breakfast sandwich for $15. At one point I was confronted by an employee, rudely accused of not ordering anything, pretty much called a liar, and asked to leave because spaces are limited to 45 minutes. I understand and respect the policy, had I known I could have easily gone somewhere else. But after this employee’s conduct, the coffee wasn’t the only thing that left a bitter taste....
