Bar Oro Caffè & Lounge — Restaurant in Edmonton

This place has a great a vibe & atmosphere, as well as super friendly staff.

That said, recently, they were bought out by the owner(s) of Ayco directly across the street. While the new owner, Ale (?), is also super friendly, and I love the increased hours, I am extraordinarily disappointed by the phasing out/replacement of all the food/treats to that of Ayco's.

Some specific feedback: not everything needs to be a/on a croissant base, even more so when they're already very dark - borderline burnt (and in some cases actually burnt), prior to being warmed up.

If I wanted to eat Ayco's food, I'd go across the street to them. Again, I'm very, very disappointed in these changes, and I hope they go back to the old menu/offerings, fast.

Additionally, the usually fantastic espresso has been getting progressively worse in the last few weeks. I'm not sure if they changed that too. To me, it was hands down the best in all of the core/downtown area prior to this.

Coming to Bar Oro is like coming home. Their presence has irrevocably changed the atmosphere of the lobby of this building-in the best possible way.

Jasper Ave is a sea of harsh sounds and sights, but once you step into Bar Oro, you’ve crossed the threshold into a tiny bit of Europe. Insanely rare in a place like Alberta, which we sheepishly refer to as the Texas of Canada.

The staff are exceptional in their service, and their desserts are a feast for the eyes, the stomach, and even the soul. The atmosphere makes you feel like you’ve been drawn away from the hustle and bustle of life, and you can take a breath to pause. Or pause to take a breath. 😉

Bar Oro is Gold....

Fancy looking place to have a meeting with your friend or couple. I like its style and the vibes. The only thing about this place is that i thought it would be larger, it is s tiny cafe-bar and there are not much places to sit at, only a few high chairs at the bar and not much regular tables. We ordered cold brew and tiramisu cappuccino, i didn’t really like cold brew but cappuccino was pretty good. Also we ordered two macaroons, peach and chocolate ones. I really liked chocolate one it was delicious, but peach one was not the best one since the cream in there was a different kind of cream as it supposed tp be in macaroons and it tasted weird.
