I went to this establishment a few weeks ago (2023) and it is definitely the only 5 star experience I had this year. Everything was there was great and the washroom was clean. This review is only for the restaurant area as I wasn't in the bar area at all.
Service - shoutout to Forrest(I think that's how I think his name is spelled) for providing immaculate service. He explained the details to my main dish twice because the first time was off camera lol. He provided excellent service and if he hasn't been there for years then he's already perfected the craft of service. Filled water constantly and always came to check in on us.
Atmosphere - I won't have a category for this every time but for this place, I have mention that everything had a pleasant and relaxed feeling to it. From the gorgeous decor, to the jazz playing in the background while you enjoy your meal. Much nicer than the majority of places I've been to.
Drinks - some on the best cocktails I had in the city. As soon as you taste one, you know it didn't come from a tap. Very nice to look at as well. Can't say I had too many drinks that were as consistently good as these.
Food - the appetizers were just that. They were tasty but not enough to make you feel bloated and too full, I feel as thought they hit the perfect balance of "not too much" and "not too little". I got the featured steak as my main dish and I will never regret it. It did come out undercooked at first but the good man Forrest noticed it right away, took it back to the kitchen and came back with the steak cooked to perfection.
The side to this perfect dish was lobster mac and cheese and it was amazing. Not sure where they got good tasting lobster in this city but kudos.
The dessert was a spin on a black forest cake and it was massive. Had to split it with my cousin because no 1 person can eat that. Definitely the best black forest cake I ever had though, the cherry infused icing was a wild idea and it was perfectly executed.
Overall - great food, great service, great drinks, the best atmosphere. I would recommend this place to someone trying to take their partner out to a lovely date spot or a place to have a superb meal while trying to chat 1 on 1. But a large group might ruin the feel of the place. Pricing seems relatively standard for most highend steakhouses so I won't mention it more than this.
Come try this place out, I can't recommend it enough.
P.S now that someone reminded me and I figured out you could edit reviews I have to mention this. I've neglected to mention 2 important things about my visit here which I should've mentioned:
The person I was with had a visible camera recording the whole time so I can't be sure how genuine our service was. We were the only patrons I could see at the restaurant until one couple came in halfway through our meal. These 2 things likely played a part in the service we received so I can't be sure how a normal visit to this place would go. Overall it was a good time but it doesn't reflect the true...

After getting babysitters for the kids, my wife and I including two other couples went for an evening of drinks and food to LUX Steakhouse for a Valentines day dinner at 8:30 PM. Carla our waitress single handily ruined the night for all of us by presenting us with the prime example of how not to treat customers at a restaurant. From the second we walked in and sat down she seemed annoyed, tense and rushed to serve us... her mannerisms and rude comments destroyed our night at LUX. Before we even looked at the menu she was asking what we wanted to drink with an annoyed look on her face.. after asking for some more time she came back within minutes asking again what we wanted to drink, confused my friend ordered the first cocktail he saw in the menu for everybody at the table in order to give us some time to breath. This continued all night.. even when I asked questions about certain dishes on the menu she answered them in a manner that everybody at the table felt uncomfortable and questioned, "What was wrong with her".. When my wife asked to sample one of the served by the glass wines she responded, " Ughh I'll see", and left. Not use to this type of treatment we continued to make the best out of the night, as we don't get opportunities every night to go out, because we all have children and trustworthy babysitters can be hard to get at times. My friend ordered Lobster which came out bad, it had a flaky texture close to that of fish and everybody at the table agreed that it looked uneatable, he pointed that out to Carla and instead of replacing it or taking it off the tab she offered a free dessert which when the bill came she conveniently "forgot" to remove it... in front of us annoyed she snapped her finger and crumpled the bill and ran off.. no apology or nothing. For a $700 dollar bill I made sure she got the appropriate tip from all of us.. next to nothing. We always tip appropriately 20% especially when there is a larger table but in this case her tip was appropriate. The worst thing was how her personality suddenly changed when it was time to pay, she looked happy and made some pleasant comments... this made every body at the table angry and it was visible. The food at LUX is mediocre at best for the premium price you pay which is at pair with great restaurant such at the Hardware Grill, Red Oxx Inn and the Harvest Room at the Hotel MacDonald. The table as a whole felt the same way.. the food is okay, nothing special and would of rather went to Cactus Club or Joeys to get a better meal for less money and better service. We do regret not talking to a manager about our experience when it was happening at the moment but my wife did call in to share our experience with the manager the day after.. hoping some changes will occur so that future so customers don't get the same experience we did... We'll...
Read moreBefore reading my review further; everything with my experience has been rectified- the regional manager Dale has done a superb job reaching out, establishing a connection, and ensuring that he would do everything in his power to re-do our experience and surpassed our expectations. When we do go back I’m hopeful to dismiss this review entirely!
An honest review: To begin, I set a request on OpenTable with some requests that were happily met! The service from the very beginning was more than amazing- our server Natalie or Natalia (I apologize for forgetting) was genuinely beyond expectations. She was extremely helpful with the menu, offered suggestions outside and within our usual realm, personal and fan favourites, etc. Consistently catering to whatever we needed without any inquisitions that help was required. However; The issue’s began throughout the food. I had ordered an 8oz striploin, a $40 lobster tail, and a side of broccolini, and my girlfriend a 6oz sirloin, the lobster tail and a side of the “Money Mash” which realistically came out fairly dry and unflavoured. We had both asked for medium rare to which hers was undeniably perfect, however; mine was closer to medium/well done. I’m not usually picky but this was like chewing a piece of tarmac. Our server was more than outgoing to bring it back and exchange it as she agreed it wasn’t correct and in return I received yet another well done striploin- I swear to you I can manifest a juicier and more tender concoction on my BBQ. Once again she felt so bad but I’d rather not waste and be a pretentious jerk as I work 5x 10-12 hour shifts on a drill, it was still good meat. The final straw came amidst trying my side of broccolini when the new steak came with a couple (cooked) whereas my side felt like bamboo shooting through my teeth. I provided a plain- but funny, example to the server proving how undercooked my original order was and was instantly offered a free desert which was amazing! I feel so bad that she was embarrassed over the outcome whilst again I’m usually not one to complain but for a $300+ meal I expected better than The Keg. Great atmosphere and service, rough...
