Mondo Pizza — Restaurant in Edmonton

UPDATED: Copied -- screenshot & text -- the restaurant's response, and added to the bottom of my review. They expect me to go there again, no remorse or talk of refunding me, maybe I should call Alberta Health Services on them!

I ordered a 16" Hawaiian pizza (ham, pineapple) on Monday [March 25, 2024] and decided to add extra toppings, which were shrimp as well as chicken. I order the same pizza from Cosmic Pizza, which is where I should have gone, but I wanted to try Mondo.

The pizza was to be my lunch as well as supper, and leftovers would have been for Tuesday. Well, a few hours after eating a couple of slices, I got a bad case of gas, and then the diarrhea started and persisted on & off all day Tuesday, then into Wednesday morning where it finally subsided. Clearly, one of the ingredients had to be bad. Also, I have no allergies.

So I went to Mondo to speak to them. The woman working kept claiming everything was fresh, obviously not to my thinking. Then she says maybe it's viral, and that's going around. I tell her I haven't been exposed to anything as I bought the pizza and went straight home. Then she mentions her & her son had a virus that gave them diarrhea. Well, there's my exposure.

They could've offered to refund my $35 in full, I would've probably been happy if they refunded half of that for what happened.

So, I'll be avoiding Mondo Pizza indefinitely, and I'll be telling people I know to avoid them like the plague. If they had taken responsibility, which they didn't, then it would be different!

EDIT: The gas started again, not long after midnight going into early Thursday morning, and the diarrhea started up again.

Further, we would like to update you that we always use fresh toppings as you know they are perishable. We expect you to see you again, and we will definitely make it better because we always try our best to make our valuable customers happy. Thank you...

A couple of days ago we ordered delivery from this establishment. The order was large, for wings, a Large pizza, garlic bread and onion rings. We’ve ordered wings twice already, the first time in honey-garlic sauce, the second time just with salt and pepper. In the first version, there was an unbearable amount of honey, the garlic was absolutely not felt, but the second time - the same thing, only with pepper (a lot of pepper). In the app (ordered through UberEats) there is no way to select the amount of seasoning for the wings, but the standard quantity comes with a very, very large amount. The onion rings were good, as was the bread, but they were also hard to mess up. Our huge Alfredo pizza was not fresh, and not even warm in temperature, just cold. Of this Large pizza, the two of us could only eat two pieces; it was simply unbearable to eat, since it had a strange taste, which, coupled with the temperature, only caused disgust. I immediately called the restaurant, hoping that they would help me solve this problem, but the woman I spoke with did not introduce herself and was absolutely incompetent. In a conversation with me, she insisted that I needed to contact Uber eats, that these were not the establishment’s problems and that the establishment’s policy did not provide for any assistance with ordering in such situations. They shifted all the blame onto the delivery person, since, according to her, the restaurant waited 20 minutes for the delivery person.

In general, the objective assessment of the establishment is clearly no more than one star, for allowing itself such an attitude towards the client and for preparing its main dish...

Our recent visit to downtown was really good. While roaming around we found Mondo pizza. We thought of giving it a try. We ordered a medium veg pizza, penne arrabbiatta, garlic bread and tiramisu. I am happy with my choices when order came. Pizza base was so good and well cooked with amazing toppings. Pastas are always yummy as it's my favourite dish. I must say one must try tiramisu here. If you are ordering any sweet dish, order tiramisu here. It's so mouth watering, yummy and well prepared. The texture of tiramisu was really good. I will recommend Mondo pizza to all specially the people of downtown. Apart from food, I would say the staff is really nice and friendly. It's a neat and clean place with amazing food. Good luck to...
