Friendly staff great upgrade on the interior looks really nice in here. Lots of room for rowdies to stay in their corner an lots of wall space for wall flowers. The patrons look our for one another here too I witnessed what would have been a robbery thwarted by a fellow drinker a handsome man tried to elope with someone else back pack and the poor loser never made it one step before someone spoke up in protest, those are the kind of friends a person needs. Just not when he is trying to steal a back pack ba humbuggery I say. Either way I recomend this bar.

Whoaaaaa. From the first second walking in, you know these folks have lived the financially challenging art scene in Edmonton and are committed to making a new venue work. Staff were great, beer was awesome, sound was tight, and the layout is impeccable for indulging locals (shoutout McCauley), moshers, wallflowers, and everyone in between. I felt safe in every corner of the venue, which is a huge plus for a space that pulls in high energy acts. Keep it up, folks—you’re onto something very, very special.

Went for the first night of Rituals! A goth themed dance night and it was the best music I've heard at any of these events that I've been to! Great DJs and the newly renovated space is awesome!

We dropped in here from the Grey Cup festivities. Oh no, our Edmontonian friends said. That's not a nice place. Don't go there. But, we said, it's called Dive Bar, and we quite enjoy dive bars. But that's were the ne'erdowells go to drink, they said. Well, I said, we'll take our chances. And yes, it's a dive bar in the realest sense of the word. If you like drinking in small town Legion bars, you'll feel quite at home here. The regulars seemed a little put out by all the football hooligans invading their space, but they weren't hostile or mean. The staff were friendly, the beer was the cheapest we found all weekend, and they even had a rag to wipe down the tables, conveniently placed on one of the chairs. I don't know how clean the rag was, though. The washrooms are nothing to write home about, but who writes home about a bathroom anyway? Just try not to touch anything. I would give this place zero stars if I could, because that's the score that befits such an authentically and proudly scuzzy place. Don't go here, you'll just wreck it, and turn it into another gentrified "faux-dive" spot that serves fancy craft beer in a clean glass. We don't need another...

Last night, I went to The Dive Bar, for "Condemned," a monthly Goth Industrial dance night. It was awesome! Both, the staff and clientele were very easy going. The atmosphere was great! When I walked in, there were already more than a dozen people dancing, while DJ Revenant and DJ Abel Nightroad played the song "Lucifer," by the German band "Blutengel." I had a wonderful time!

I had plenty of room to dance. For the first time ever, I did not feel self-conscious about my dancing. I just did what felt right to me. Nobody walked up and imitated me, then laughed at me. No pushing, no shoving. Nobody spilling their drinks on my clothes. Nobody knocking me down onto the floor.

Other patrons always gave me room to dance. When I walked out to go home, other patrons made room for me to leave the dance floor. Nobody spoke to me all night, except for the two bouncers at the door (when I checked in). Yet, it was a very pleasant experience. Great staff and patrons! I highly recommend The Dive Bar! It was a great place, and I will definitely return again, soon,...
