Bells Lane Kitchen — Restaurant in Halifax

my 1star is just about the pastries in the morning, I can't speak to anything else. They are the worst I've ever had. The croissants are clearly ones that weren't sold the previous day. They're like old paper or cardboard. I thought it might have been an issue with the supplier but because they were so bad at bells (on multiple occasions) lane I decided to get some from the cafe in the marriot(they seem to be the exact same pastry so I am guessing it's the same supplier - I could be wrong on that) and they were perfect (again, on multiple occasions). As for service, staff don't seem to know how to use their technology or even sometimes there is nobody there at the counter. I get it, they're trying but for example to buy just one of the aforementioned croissants can take 5 to 10 minutes even when there is no line. I've seen people give up and just leave. I've also mentioned these concerns to a staff member. Nothing changed so I gave up on the place. Its a nice looking place but for the price, well, I get better service and quality of products in somewhere like tim hortons. The food is great and the service is fast and attentive. The only thing holding this place back is the tense atmosphere. The staff is great but the manager is visibly stressed and often takes it out on his workers. Just today he got into the face of a cook who was just doing his job and spoke very loudly, slowly and condescendingly which dampened my experience considerably. Managing a restaurant is not easy but if he could work with his staff and be more pleasant toward them, this place would be much more...

Tried The Bells Lane Kitchen for the first time today and it was lovely. Food is fresh and flavourful, atmosphere was pristine - it literally sparkled, staff were friendly and efficient. Great experience. Only disappointment was they put Cheddar 🧀 in the turkey sandwich instead of Brie but still delicious. Staff gave us 10% off coupon for the error. Highly recommend this restaurant as you have such a varied selection including a small market area and ample seating. Lots of natural light too....
