I recently visited Bluenose II in Halifax with my wife for a delightful lunchtime experience. This charming restaurant exceeded our expectations with its delectable seafood, cozy ambiance, and attentive service. First and foremost, the food at Bluenose II is a true delight for seafood lovers. We indulged in an array of mouthwatering dishes, from succulent lobster rolls to perfectly seared scallops. Each bite was bursting with freshness and flavors of the sea, making for an exceptional dining experience. The restaurant's interior exudes a comfortable and inviting atmosphere. The maritime-themed decor and beautiful seafaring artwork created a unique and enchanting ambiance. We particularly enjoyed sitting by the window, which offered a pleasant view of the bustling street outside. It was the perfect spot to unwind and soak in the relaxed vibes. The service at Bluenose II was commendable. The staff members were friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable about the menu. They were prompt in taking our orders and made sure we had everything we needed throughout our meal. Their warm and accommodating nature added to the overall positive experience. In conclusion, our visit to Bluenose II was a delightful journey into maritime cuisine. The delectable seafood, comfortable surroundings, and attentive service made for a memorable dining experience. **080621 updated** Went to the bluenose II today, and it might be the most disappointed experience I have ever had. I remember that I came to Halifax four years ago and ordered their Lobster roll and clam chowder, which was really amazing at that moment, just like it said on the menu: the best chowder in the city. Every time when I visit bluenose I always order their clam chowder, but this time I was really disappointed. Because of the urge getting seafood today, I decided to visit bluenose. I ordered seafood platter, fried calamari and clam chowder today. Then they told me that there had no clams, but they can add more seafood to my plate. I don’t mind, because today was my seafood day. Then they told me that no more calamari after I ordered the meal. Well, I also don’t mind… so I ordered steam mussels instead... After the meal was delivered, the seafood platter looked really sad and I don't think they added more seafood because the portion seems really small. And also I felt like my fav chowder has gone. It tastes so tasteless, without the feeling of seafood (clam). The point was that it was very dry... maybe just too thick? not soupy at all. The steam mussels were also very average, and there was no surprise. In addition, just two servers are not enough for a bunch ppl. I finished the water while I was waiting for the meal, and I also waited 40 minutes to get my meal. When the server brought the food and asked about our needs, I asked for water. They didn’t bring water after I finished all the meals. (I spent 30-ish mins to finish) Overall, the service was too slow (understaffed) Meals were pretty slow (maybe also understaffed) Then the meal was so disappointing... I don't know if i will go back in the future… — Love the lobster roll, but the fries could be better. The price was good and the atmosphere was amazing.

Worst experience in Halifax. If you want cheap cooked lobsters, take the ferry to Evan’s Seafood. If you want fish n chips or clams, go to John’s Lunch. If you want to take a chance at your food experience, you can stay and try Bluenose and I wish you good luck. 1. Had their lobster dinner for $39. The lobster was not fresh, tasted bitter, sour and extra fishy, and meat was rubbery. You can see from the pic that the color and texture was not right. Had plenty of lobsters previously, this has been the worst and sickest. Poor lobster, probably been kept in the restaurant tank for way too long. And the servers refused to admit there’s problems at the beginning. 2. Clam chowder came with the lobster dinner, was too salty and had too much starch in it. 3. Ordered the fish cakes, seemed frozen before, they were dry. Had roasted potatoes with the fish cakes, just look at the pic, they were more close to mashed than roasted. Texture was awful. We had pretty high hope for this place, but ended up with so much disappointment. They probably had better days and we were just unlucky. But consistency is a key factor to determine the quality of a restaurant. Won’t return again.

There was a huge lineup when we went on Aug 23rd. We were a family of 5 and they didn’t have many tables that can accomodate 5 people. I noticed that takeouts were faster than dine-in, and since we have been waiting for a while and 2 families already were seated before us (because we were 5), so we decided to order takeout instead; as we were waiting for our orders, Photini said that a table for 5 became available and since we already placed our order, she asked if we would like to dine-in instead. We did take her up on her offer. Our meal arrived a few minutes after we sat down and we enjoyed our lobster roll deluxe! It was worth the wait and Photini was great to have offered us the table eventhough we were ready to do takeout. We really appreciated it and were impressed of her great customer service!

tl;dr relatively inexpensive with decent food (solid 3.5) and super friendly service. Fish and chips had a tasty batter and wasn’t too oily but was missing a bit of crunch. The coleslaw was really good but the fries also lacked crispness. The clam chowder had a unique dilly/lemony flavour that wasn’t my cup of tea but given this place has been around since 1964 maybe it’s a local flavour. The mussels were a bit disappointing. The broth was nice but the mussels themselves were small and a bit on the dry side. Not overcooked, but were a bit chewy. Was hoping that sea-side shellfish would be better. Finished it all but for us it’s what took it from a 4 to a 3. The Hoppy Boy IPA was excellent and our server was very friendly. No regrets and a good price.

We chose this restaurant on our road trip to Nova Scotia to taste fresh and local seafood. Based on the reviews we came with high expectations and to be honest they meet our expectations. The service was quite nice and friendly. we ordered soup and nachos as an appetizer. The soup was warm and yummy and the nachos were big enough for three people as an appetizer. Our main plates were fish and chips plus a seafood plate and we were satisfied with the meals in terms of quality and quantity. The restaurant itself was cozy and well designed. The only small room for improvement maybe is the washroom cleanliness. Overall, I highly recommend this restaurant and if I get a chance to see Halifax again, I will definitely go there.
