Booked a table to have dinner here prior to the Home for the Holidays event. Reservation was for 5:30. Got in and ordered a drink and some food right away. Which was a good call. The restaurant was not especially busy but busy enough to have more than 2 servers. We ran into the same issue last year, very slow service as they only staffed so few servers. We all had reservations so they knew exactly how busy they were going to be. Once the food has been ordered. It took 1.5 hours to arrive. It wasn’t complicated food, it was the soup of the day. The table beside us ordered burgers, and my friend ordered a salad. When asked about the wait for the food, the bartender just said it’s going to take an hour at least. No reason why, the restaurant was not that busy and there were at least 2 people cooking in the kitchen. The hotel that night was also hosting a dinner theatre. My recommendation is you are hosting an event, get event staff. Don’t just have the cooks do both the dinner rush and the dinner theatre event. Or… be honest with the people who took time to book reservations. Hey we are doing a dinner theatre too so the food will be slow…. That way it gives the people dinning a chance to decide if they want to go somewhere else to get food. The slow food was a huge problem. The food was cold when it go to us, the soup practically not edible. The service was lack lustre at best. And the bill was way too high for the food that we did get served. The bill was also not accurate and it took another 5 minutes to fix it. 2 drinks, a soup and a...
Read moreMy last few visits for breakfast have been quite enjoyable, especially weekday mornings earlier when it's quiet and peaceful. Very friendly staff. The spanish sweet potato omelet (caramelized onion, chives, Canadian aged cheddar, sweet potato, Yukon homestyle potatoes $14) is delicious. the Italian Frittata (pomodorini confit, proscuitto, basil ricotta, Yukon potatoes $17) is also great. My favorite is the huevos rancheros (poached eggs, black beans, stewed tomato, tortilla, house pico de gallo, avocado $15). The Shakshuka Eggs (baked eggs, spiced tomato & red pepper sauce, feta, grilled house rosemary focaccia $15) is very flavorful and nice on a cold winter morning, although I think I'd enjoy it more for lunch than breakfast. The vegan Buddha Bowl is very healthy and satisfying. Tofu scramble, avocado, pickled veg, some flavored rice, Asian pancakes. The egg white fritata is decent, with large Yukon gold home fries cooked right in it, a spicy sour cream drizzle and strong basil taste. Basically there is a lot of variety here that you often don't get at other hotel restaurants, with the menu changing every few months, which I love. A whole pot of coffee tops it off...
Read moreI've eaten here twice. Both times service was very kind and attentive. First guy never remembered to bring sugar for the tea, but he was very kind and attentive for everything ends. The lady we had for breakfast was fantastic! She was on the ball, forgot nothing and went above and beyond checking in to see if I needed anything, or wanted a to-go tea when I was done.
The dinner meal was ok. I ordered the parmasean risotto with fish on top. First was perfectly cooked, but the risotto lake wasn't flavor. It had too much balsamic glaze and not near enough salt.
Husband ordered the burger and fries- it was good. Not fantastic, but good. Daughter got the fish with veggies and potatoes. It was very good! First place that had fish on the menu for kids!
Breakfast was good. I had the classic eggs Benny. The eggs were medium (I prefer soft). Nothing special. Just good. Daughter had the corn flake crushed French toast - so crispy and soft at the same time....
