Mom2Bee 3D / 4D Pregnancy Ultrasound Halifax — Local services in Halifax

I have recently had my ultrasound done at Mom2Bee, and it was a wonderful moment! I live in Antigonish and chose Mom2Bee after some friends gave me good references of the place. I am glad I listened to them! Layla, the owner, provided wonderful customer service even before I scheduled the appointment. Promptly answered my emails, including during weekends. Scheduling was easy and at a time that would be of best convenience for us. She guided me in the choice of the package with the best cost-benefit according to my gestational age (18 weeks). Live Streaming was offered at no cost, which made the experience even more special, since all our family members live overseas. Throughout the appointment, Layla was extremely professional, caring, and thoughtful. She made sure everything was ready before our arrival. The environment is very welcoming and comfortable, which made us feel at home. The ultrasound was detailed and of extremely high quality, and she took the time to show us every little body part of our little girl! She never rushed---she actually took longer than what the package included, which we appreciated. Layla is extremely knowledgeable medically as well due to her extensive past training and experiences, which helped to reassure us that everything is going well and within expectations for the gestational age---disclaimer: it does not replace medical evaluation, though! Denied access to my mother's service dog, and then laughed with her next patients about people bringing pets to the clinic. A service dog is not a pet. This is the same as denying someone access because they are in a wheelchair. We will not return to this clinic.

Follow on information (as of 1 Nov 2019):

Legally, she would have needed to present a doctor's note/certificate outlining that her allergy is severe enough for it to trump my mother's requirement to bring her service dog for her denial to be legal. Her casually saying "I have an allergy" does not give her the right to deny access.

We did not want confrontation at the time, and worked around the issue by having my husband wait outside with Lizzie, the service dog, while my mother and sisters attended the first portion of the ultrasound, and then they switched places half way through the appointment.

My mother came straight from work, and she requires the dog especially during transit through the city. Yes, she probably didn't need the dog in the room, but does a person in a wheelchair need to give up their wheelchair to access particular places? Lizzie is a medical device like any other.

Furthermore, her response regarding "there being no place for pets" in the clinic is unacceptable, inappropriate and insensitive. SERVICE ANIMALS ARE NOT PETS. And if you're thinking "maybe she meant physical space?" There is plenty of physical space in the room - so it was not a physical space issue.

Woman was very nice and great with my son, the place was very clean and well setup. I’m giving two stars though because I honestly feel like she was not confident in the gender and definitely did not assure me of the gender. I’ll be paying for another scan next week at UC baby so I can feel confident in the answer one way or another. I wanted to be able to be 100% confident if indeed it is another boy and right now I’m doubting it, and not because it’s not the answer I was hoping for.

Edit* not sure why the owner feels the need to argue everyone’s opinion when it’s not 5 star. I’m entitled to my opinion. I’m not someone who usually complains, look at my ‘other reviews’ they’re all amazing 5 stars, not a single bad review. The owner definitely did not assure me at all, in fact I’d have loved her to show me in confidence but there were people in the waiting room and I’m quite sure she was rushing us to move on to them.
