Arthur’s Urban Market — Local services in Halifax

The sourdough is decent enough to make a trip here, but if you need something besides milk, eggs, or bread, I'd go somewhere else. Depending on when you go, the produce quality is almost laughable, with almost all of it on the brink of decomposing (Last week all the pineapples were literally rotting and had flies everywhere). Not only that but the prices on everything are insane, everything is marked up, which is understandable as it's a small store, but it gets to the point where items are 2 to 3 times more expensive than your average superstore. The store also seems to be understaffed constantly and the employees don't seem to care too much about customer service. They're not really rude per se but they don't say anything, and it makes it uncomfortable/awkward at checkout. Basically if you don't live within 1km of the store, it is absolutely not worth it. It is a small market, but it has many products that are not available in big supermarkets. It feels like you are in UK. I found ungrated pecorino romano cheese, unbelievable varieties of cheeses, almost all types of mushrooms, many mochi ice-cream flavours, asian pears, huge options of kombucha, lots of sausages and etc, which are hard to find else where. They have Xylitol! Vegan, gluten-free and organic products are available in abundance. The bakery on site is great for fresh bread and pastries. Great ready to go meals. Unfortunately it closes at 7pm and their website needs to be improved. The 4 cashiers are small, not enough room makes it hard to pack. Some products are pricey than average.
