We recently visited this restaurant for a special occasion, and unfortunately, the experience didnāt live up to the positive reviews I had seen. When we arrived around 7ish, there were only two staff members serving the entire restaurant, which led to a few issues right from the start. We were given just one menu, and I had to ask three times for another. In the end, we got it, but it would have been helpful if this was communicated upfront.
When we finally ordered, we were informed that several BBQ items were sold out. We then opted for tempura, asking specifically to avoid green bell peppers. However, this request seemed to be misunderstood.
The BBQ arrived in parts; the beef tongue was great, and the other items were just above average.
Oddly, the sushi combo arrived before the tempura, even though tempura is usually served as an appetizer. The sushi portions were large, with the rice being a bit cold and lacking flavor.
Finally, the tempura arrived without the shrimp, and after notifying the staff, it took ages to fix what should have been a small mistake.
In the end, the experience didnāt match the glowing reviews I had read online. The inconsistent service and the disappointing food left me quite...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThe food was amazing, and I got a lot more than I expected, especially for the price. My group ordered ramen, curry katsu, a 40-piece party tray, some appetizers, and the special Wagyu A5 + Toro nigiri and sashimi.
The presentation was really nice. I was not expecting a smoke display piece for the tray, and the orange leaf was an edible cookie. These were all nice touches that I would expect at high-end establishments. If I'm not mistaken, the wasabi was real wasabi, but don't quote me on that.
The service was really fast as well. Granted, we were the only people in the restaurant at the time, but considering how the party tray and entrƩes came out simultaneously, with everything else arriving beforehand, it gave me good vibes.
The quality of the sushi was really good, almost the perfect amount of rice for the rolls and nigiri while being properly seasonedāunlike at other places. The nigiri, in particular, was made really well. Just by looking at it, you could see the care and technique that went into it.
Also, they have Wagyu and Toro tunaāone of the few places I know that offer them.
Overall, I highly recommend this place. Next time I go, Iāll be bringing...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI spent my last weekend at this restaurant with friends, and it turned out to be an unforgettable experience! We didnāt have to wait long, and the ambiance was perfect ā cozy yet modern, making it a great spot for both casual dining and special occasions.
One of the highlights for me was how the sushi are turned on table ā such a unique and fancy touch! Every piece I tried was fresh and delicious, and the Volcano Roll was a standout ā highly recommend it!
The ramen was equally impressive ā the chashu was melt-in-your-mouth juicy and bursting with flavor. Honestly, itās probably the best ramen Iāve had in Halifax so far. The appetizers were another hit, with generous portions that were perfect for sharing.
My friends went for the teppanyaki, and the eel they ordered was cooked to perfection. I had a taste, and it was just as good as some of the best teppanyaki Iāve had in Toronto, but at a much more reasonable price point!
The cherry on top was the wonderful service. The staff were incredibly friendly and attentive, which made the experience even more enjoyable. I canāt wait to come back and try more from their menu....
