Horrific is how I would describe our experience on June 21st, 2025. We reserved space on the Stone's Throw Patio for a company group with out-of-towners included in the 28 people (6 kids in the group) at 5:15pm... on the patio. Drink and food orders were taken by 5:30 for everyone.
At 6:15pm when we had only received the initial water and the server had not returned once with our drinks, nor the truffle fries ordered for the tables, nor even a return visit to freshen up the water, we spoke to the manager on duty.
At 7:00pm we had our drinks and still no table fries and no food. We were continually told it was coming ... "10 more minutes" or "give us 20 minutes."
I even warned 3 women with 3 little kids looking to go in that we had been there 90 minutes and nothing but they still went in - AND got their food within 30 minutes!!!!
(We were reluctant to leave with such a large group, as we were not sure we could find anywhere else to help us)
At 7:41pm (they close at 8), when asked again about any food, Frank said give us 20 more minutes. I asked if any food from our order had even been started. No was the reply. When we said - that was it, we were done, and to get the drinks bill, he tried to say it had been started.
At this point, I had gone to a nearby place (Thank you Lower Deck!) who said they could help us, we paid the drink bill and left.
In my entire life, I have never experienced such poor service from any place anywhere. How or why someone could not get our orders in and going, orders which were taken by the server by 5:30pm is beyond me. 2.5 hours and all we got were drinks. Horrific service. Embarrassing for us too - we were trying to show off the great place of Halifax to the CEOs visiting and as much as everyone tried to keep it light - the experience left a poor taste in everyone's mouth... the only taste we got!
Never going back and tearing up my Marriott rewards cards as well. And yes, we are reaching out to speak with the general...
Read moreMy partner and I visit the waterfront on a very regular basis, we celebrated my partners birthday last year and it was great. Fast forward to Saturday May 25, my partner and I were enjoying the waterfront it was a gorgeously warm summer day. We decided to drop into Stones Throw for a drink and maybe some food. We asked for a seat facing the harbour, our 2 hostesses, why 2 not sure because one never said anything, they had to check. In a few moments they returned advising that we could. Both started to escort us to our table when halfway there one of the hostesses stopped to have a conversation with a server on the lower level, after a few moments they then resumed escorting us to our seats. We took our seats and reviewed the menu. Now it wasn’t extremely busy, and the servers were serving other guests seated right beside us. And after more than 15 minutes no one came over or even acknowledged us. We become frustrated when we even tried to actively get a servers attention, we decided that we would leave since we weren’t acknowledged. So we got up and proceeded to leave, and same hostesses that had escorted us did good bye not realizing that we were not served or that we were happy. We then went to another establishment.
We will not be back and certainly would not recommend!! Shame on you Stones Throw, so...
Read moreWe frequent this place, however we know before we go that the service will be lacking ... We like the food and the view, so we feel it's worth it If only the service was better, it would be 5 starts across the board for me. It's typically a wait to have a server visit our table once we are sat down The last visit was just last evening, though we would be there for " happy hour" .. however asking a server what the happy hour specials were, basically she said that the prices on the menu were " all day happy hour prices" . So there is NO happy hour here .... It's disappointing that they advertise something that is not offered . On the menu is listed " $7 " house wine. That is the regular price at all times, and as far as food specials ... The only thing that is " appy hour $15 " is ONE item that is always $15
It's so silly , and false advertising is really poor management The servers don't seem to be very good at juggling tables, even though when we were there last night they were very empty I used to go there for my favorite nachos in the Halifax, however since they have had a new chef, the nachos have been changed and are not longer the best in the city. It's a shame If only they could provide better servers, this would be the greatest option on...
