Church's Texas Chicken — Restaurant in Hamilton

the most horrible experience i’ve ever had in any food establishment... first i got massively overcharged for chicken tenders, didn’t want to be difficult so i told the employee it was my fault and i must of misunderstood the menu. she assured me multiple times that i was getting tenders, but it was just the “family meal” (which is advertised as all bone-in chicken?). i was worried because i have a huge phobia of bones, so she lied to me multiple times assuring me there’s absolutely no bones in what i ordered. cool i trust her, i’m not one to accuse the employees of not knowing what they’re talking abt. when I opened the box at home I was in tears because the box had 6 chicken legs in it with full bone. like i was literally sobbing 😭 and terrified. i know it sounds funny but it’s a real phobia i’ve had my entire life.

my husband called them and the same woman picked up, seemed to know exactly what he was referring to, and hung up on him. i guess the next 5 times he called she declined the call so it went straight to a (full) voicemail. 7th call she picked up and immediatley hung up. 8th time she answered and said if i brought it back she would give me 12 tenders. what am i gonna do with 12 chicken tenders lol you already ruined my night and charged me $36 for something i can’t eat let alone look at. she told him she packed up the “wrong box” which is totally fair and valid, but she literally lied because what actually happened is she rang me up for the wrong combo and didn’t want to take responsibility or let the kitchen know.

whoever’s “wrong box” it was meant to be, they would of probably been disappointed as well since there’s no 6 piece combos of anything on your menu, so the people that mysteriously ordered the exact same thing you charged me for, at 9 o’clock at night, would of been given the incorrect amount anyways…

the thing i regret most about this experience is not having the guts to question her, and when i did i guess i did it too meekly. do better...

First the food: perfect. Nice portion sizes. Fresh. Delicious! The chicken is so flavourful! My first bite into my first Mexican wrap, the chicken was so juicy...I was hooked! today I got the same Mexican wrap combo with jalapeno poppers, an 8 piece spicy combo with gravy and onion rings, and finally an order of chicken tenders. The food is immaculate. Cleanly cooked, crisp breading, the cheese in the poppers melts perfectly and is wonderfully spiced! The chicken is the same. Spiced and just all around too much to ignore. The service: impeccable. Such kind and expedient workers there! Polite, courteous, easy to speak to, and very understanding and considerate. I had to wait about 20 mins for spicy bone in chicken (they have boneless options too) and I figured why not. I waited the time and thanks to that, got fresh spicy chickem that my parents enjoyed! The time? forgiveable since I think I went there around the time they opened? So they were just getting things prepped and cooked whilst still serving food. The wonderful person behind the counter gave me an additional two tenders along with my 3tender order! I literally just waited and I'm very patient, but they rewarded me with 2 tenders. Delicious! In my joy to continue with the rest of my errands, I walked out and only after taking my pup to the vet did I realize I had no drink with my combo order. When I went back, I brought my receipt in and told the same cashier who took, cooked, and packed my order. This dude, am absolute gem! Not only did I get two tenders for waiting, but for not remembering to give me a cup for my drink, this peach of a human basically upgraded me to a bottled beverage. No fuss. No fighting. Patience, a smile, and manners go a long way and sometimes it's the little things. Extra chicken and a bottled drink? Church's is definitely my go to for chicken and anything...

Done with this place. So inconsistent. 2 of my 3 orders were made wrong, most recently yesterday. Placed an order for my work crew of 8 guys, when it was picked up and I saw that I did not receive what was ordered whatsoever, I called and the woman I spoke with said maybe there was a miscommunication and offered a sorry if that was the case as a means of solution. I'm not sure how it's possible to receive cold & and old chicken (and not even the chicken I ordered) when our order was placed 15 minutes after you opened, and picked up 15 minutes later. Are you serving yesterday's chicken ?

For the record I ordered 4 bone in breast pieces, and a drink.

I received 2 miniature white meat pieces, (1 mild fresher, 1 spicy clearly older)

2 chicken wings with tips (1 mild 1 spicy neither fresh)

Fries, a biscuit, and a root beer.

My order couldn't be much simpler. No combo. No non breast meat.

Food was so disappointing I didn't consume any of it past the first bite. Not being offered any sort of reparation is an equally embarassing lack of customer service. I'll not return to this location.

Edit for the alleged response from churches. And how would you be tracking my previous visits exactly ? I've never been asked for a name or phone number, so exactly what records are you looking at ?

The order in the review was placed at 11:15am last Saturday the 8th of February. My telephone call to the store with the female representative I mentioned was placed at 12:07pm according to my phone records. Feel free to respond appropriately when you're ready.
