Subway — Restaurant in Hamilton

Absolutely unacceptable behavior and zero customer service.

I placed an online order at this Subway location and asked my boyfriend to pick it up. I specifically requested a sauce on the side, but it was put directly on the sandwich. When I tried it, I hated it, so we went back to politely ask for it to be remade.

The staff member’s reaction was completely uncalled for. She snatched the receipt from my boyfriend’s hand, threw it at him twice, and started screaming in his face, swearing, and accusing him of lying — all in front of other customers. She was aggressive to the point where it looked like she was about to climb over the counter. Even after he left the store, she continued shouting.

She claimed she made the order “exactly as it was on the receipt,” which was not true. She also said she “wasn’t allowed to give extra sauce,” yet gave it anyway — and drenched my boyfriend’s sub in the same sauce we never asked for. When we asked to speak to a manager, she outright refused.

I left this experience upset, embarrassed, and completely disappointed. There was zero professionalism, no willingness to fix a mistake, and frankly, the behavior was borderline threatening. This kind of treatment is absolutely not okay and needs to be addressed.

Extremely rude employees. My son and I came here for dinner strictly because we had a coupon and were in the area; this is not our usual location. The girls at the counter looked instantly bothered by our presence. I immediately showed the coupon and said we would have the cold cut combos which I learned was not actually a combo but apparently meant just the sub type... super misleading but fine. She was sure to tell me no no honey and roll her eyes to the other girl condescending in the process of explaining though. Apparently this location only has two bread options white or multigrain and when we asked for our usual Italian herb and cheese were just told they don't have. Just white or multigrain! While my son took a millisecond too long to pick his toppings she would roll her eyes and sigh audibly. While checking out and asking the girl to actually make it a combo for both of us another $10 was added to what I thought the coupon was originally including so $25 for a mediocre meal. The lady who made my sub was pleasant and it was tasty- no issues there! The problem arose when It came time to pay. I asked for a glass of water and was told by the gentleman at the cash ( the franchise owner, I assume) that due to COVID, they couldn’t give out water but he was quite willing to sell me a fountain drink. I fail to see how dispensing a fountain drink is safer than dispensing water from the same machine. Overall, I was quite disappointed at being forced to pay for pop when all I wanted was water.
