The Owl of Minerva — Restaurant in Hamilton

Absolutely horrendous experience, in particular with the waitress: We were given empty cups and expected to "serve" our own water. It is unclear what the purpose of the waitress is for. Our pitcher of water was completely empty the entire time we ate, not once were we offered a refill. The waitress was completely oblivious and inattentive. The food was edible at best. Ordered a "beef" soup that only had one piece of beef in the entire soup. This is not an exaggeration. $10.99 for "Tofu and Water" best fits the dish description. We were informed that we could not split the bill between our group- never had I ever heard this phrase from any restaurant that I have been to where the bill could not be split. No explanation was given as to why not.

After paying for the bill, the waitress had the audacity to explicitly ask us why we did not tip- the above is self-explanatory. She then proceeds to tell us word-for-word that it is "customary to tip". I have never in my entire life been forcefully demanded to tip. She continues to verbally harass us, demanding for a tip. My friend had to pay for another transaction using his card just to give the waitress her "hard-earned" tip. Absolutely disgusting behaviour, with no shame or embarrassment. The only tip this waitress should be getting is to quit her job. Will never be back, and will never recommend to...

The worst service anywhere- EVER!!! Yes, your reviews may be right, food is good but if you get a terrible service will you eat here again? We have frequented this place a lot and it's usually the husband and wife who serves us always with a smile. Tonight a young girl was serving us and here rudeness, unbelievable....When I attempted to talk to the manager, she told me that the manager is her mom and that I would have to go through her to get to her mom anyway so in her own words :"it's up to you". So I told her how I was not satisfied with her service, that honestly I find her rude. Only to be replied with "ok, so?!". I eat out a lot, I have gone to places where the food was not worth the money, but at least they have excellent customer service. But this place? The Owl of Minerva is not the only Korean place in town. There are several more, and you won't be treated like dirt! I will never be coming back to this place again. If you want to be treated like this, then go ahead...

I hate to give this place a bad review but my experience with one of their male servers just ruined it for me. My friends and I are students, we went here looking forward to some authentic korean food. Honestly, we had a great time, the food was good, everything good;I was planning on coming back.

However, the no splitting bill policy put us in a pinch. One of our friends agreed to pay for the bill and he didnt tip the server (Hes not all there). The server then comes to our table and asks if we didnt like the service and that we didnt tip. At this point, we were totally in the wrong, we felt embarrassed and scrounged up what cash we did have to tip, it was a misunderstanding. However the server couldnt let it go, he wouldnt listen to us trying to explain the mistake and got aggressive starting to swear (FU** and some others). We made a mistake but the complete lack of professionalism on his part ruined the experience for me. I dont think ill ever...
