We were very disappointed with our night at the keg tonight. It was a nice slow Monday night at 7pm and we were only having to wait about 15 minutes to get seated, as a walk in. However, you'd think they'd have pre-set the table, instead of clearing the extra place settings AFTER we were sat. Not sure what that wait was about.
They're dreadfully over staffed with kids that really aren't being led. Just wandering around, all over the place.
We wanted to to have an appy with a couple cocktails, catch up, then have our mains, but, unfortunately, we felt rushed out. Why are you trying to "flip" tables on a slow night when there's no one to take the table?
They obviously had our steaks pre-made because they came out in about 7 minutes. Long before our appy was to show. I ordered a nice glass of wine to go with my main too.
So there we are.... with wine, full cocktails and our mains in 10 minutes! Finished in 30 mins!
We REALLY wanted to have a nice relaxing Keg "experience". We would've stayed 2 hours and probably had dessert & more drinks too. I'd commend you if this was Denny's! But we pay a premium for an "experience" at the Keg. This one is not like a normal keg. They try to rush you and get you out asap.
Your servers need to learn how to "course" and expidite the different courses accordingly, and within proper time. And, you guys really are missing an opportunity to increase your check averages I've had a more timely & intimate experiences at breakfast joints!
Food was to standard, but we really felt rushed out, for no reason.
The music was like being in a caberet night club downtown, while 90% of the guests were over 50! I also don't know why the buss boy did a quality check after the server did. And maybe that buss boy was your floor manager?!!?! He needs a haircut and to graduate from high school! Seems like this particular keg is being run by children. Very disappointing. Probably wouldn't return to this particular Keg. Such a shame. There's more professionally run fine dinning establishments in Kelowna at just as good or better...
Read moreThis would be the last time we would come to The Keg Kelowna. We have been frequent flyers at the Keg Kelowna for past 5 years but since last year there had been some issues with our food. Last year 3 times we went in and ordered our steak medium rare, each time our steak came medium to well done with one time it being way to chewy. Everytime we would send it back, a Manager would come over to tell us that steak looks different in natural sunlight as we would be sitting on covered patio. Pretty much telling us we don't know what a medium rare steak looks and taste like(FYI my GF is a red seal chef with over 25 years of experience so try again). But somehow our newly made steak would come out perfectly cooked. We did not go back for a year. Fast forward to yesterday when we went in for some food. Our server Faith was less than interested in serving us as it showed in her service. She barely checked on us and forgot one of our ordered food item and when we were done with meal, she came over and told us that our slider would be right out. We told her that we were at the end of our meal and she made an excuse that she was trying to pace the food while no new food had came to our table in over 20 mins. Clearly that pissed her off as she sent another gentlemen to take our payment( I understand it happening when you are super busy and everyone helping each other out but it wasn't that busy last night). Sorry to write a long review but maybe Keg can learn a thing or two from Cactus club as their food and service has always been impeccable and that would be our go to...
Read moreThe keg is usually my favorite restaurant. I live in a rural town and going to the city for a weekend usually involves a much anticipated trip to the Keg. My latest visit left me disappointed. I usually order the chicken and garlic mashed potatoes. This time they had changed my usual roasted chicken to a blackened chicken which is fine, but was done with a hot sauce. Not everyone likes hot sauce. I asked if gravy came with or was additional and was told there was no gravy which is usually the highlight of the meal. I was also asked if I wanted warm bread, which of course I do because it's typically lovely. This time I was given cheese butter which has a strange sour taste. When I inquired about the regular butter I was told they had no whipped butter but could substitute hard butter. Usually I recall the cheese butter was a special consideration on request for people with unusual taste buds, but apparently is now the only offering. I didn't touch the chicken as the skin was left on and when I went to cut it the skin slid around which I found to be unappetizing. The wait staff didn't inquire as to why I was not eating the meal I had ordered. My waiter was pleasant but I feel I've been frequenting the keg longer than he has been alive and he was confused when I expected the usual items that I thought to be a staple.
All said, I know I am privileged to be able to attend a dinner at the keg, however the level of quality on this occasion was far below what I'm used to seeing. I feel the two best items have been removed from this usually epic...
