Came here because of the 4.8/5 star google review and was expecting great things. Upon walking in the coffee shop itself is very aesthetically pleasing and looks like it has a more cozy type of atmosphere. Something that brought this rating down was the prices. For what you’re getting the prices are insanely high. I ordered an Iced Chai Latte, a regular dark roast coffee and a chocolate chip cookie. It came out to be just over $14, the cookie itself being $4 before tax. The chai latte was very good I did enjoy it, however I had to pay an extra 50 cents just to put ice and get less of a drink? Seems strange to me. The dark roast coffee tasted like an ordinary TimHortons coffee that should’ve costed about a $2 at most. The cookie was soooo stale! Hard as a rock. The taste could’ve been so much better if it was actually fresh, but they were stored in a glass jar and it didn’t seem to protect the taste of them at all. For $4 I was expecting this cookie to knock my socks off. The rest of the food looked good, but after that cookie I would be skeptical. The staff making the drinks also seemed a bit unfriendly. Granted, I understand how hard it is to work in a customer service job (past McDonalds worker) but a smile goes a long way. Overall if you have the money and want to spend it maybe save it for a...
Read moreI am very disappointed in our experience and the service here. We were so excited to try the vegan cinnamon rolls and arrived at 8:35 AM. No cinnamon rolls but the woman said they're usually out by 9. We got a scone and breakfast cookie and sat down to wait. At 9:20, I asked about them. A different worker told me they'd be out by 10.
We left, checked out of our hotel and went back at 10:05 to get them before starting our drive to Yarmouth. After a half an hour, at 10:35 I politely inquired again and was told at least another 20 minutes. I gently stated my frustration at being told 9 AM, then 10 AM, and now it was going to be 11. The woman who had told me 10 AM was rude with her response - no apology, she just cut me off saying "we're a small business and we're doing our best" in a very clipped tone. I stated that I understand but wish we had been given an accurate estimate two hours earlier because we had been specifically waiting and needed to get on the road. She just repeated herself and walked away. At that point, we had been waiting over two hours and couldn't stay any longer, so we left.
The scone I had was delicious. My husband's breakfast cookie...
Read moreExcellent café in quaint and lovely Lunenburg, NS. The beans are of high quality, and the preparation of espresso based drinks is on point. Scones are extremely tasty, and the vegan cinnamon buns are honestly just splendid. The interior is lined with local art (a lot of it for purchase) and clearly the owners see their space as a way to support local creatives & others in the area who are undertaking different endeavours. There are some seating areas that accommodate small groups and the place is welcoming, clearly inclusive, with a friendly, progressive vibe. It’s a real find in southern Nova Scotia and I recommend it to anyone who is passing through Lunenburg or going further afield but has the urge for a good coffee on...
