The Beach Pea Kitchen & Bar in Lunenburg is, without a doubt, the best restaurant I have ever been to. Not just on this trip, not just in Canada, but in my entire life. Everything about this place was exceptional.
From the moment we arrived, the atmosphere felt warm and welcoming. The space is cozy yet refined, with a relaxed charm that immediately puts you at ease. Our server, Justin, made the evening truly unforgettable. He was kind, professional, and attentive without being overbearing. His passion for the food and genuine hospitality elevated the entire experience.
We started with both fresh and cooked oysters, including the Rockefeller oysters, and they were absolutely perfect. The arugula salad was fresh, vibrant, and beautifully balanced. The pasta with shrimp was seasoned so well that every bite felt carefully crafted.
Justin recommended two standout dishes—the scallops and the rabbit rice. Both were incredibly flavourful and cooked to perfection. The rabbit rice in particular was unlike anything I’ve had before, with rich, deep flavours that felt like something from a world-class kitchen. For dessert, we ordered the strawberry tiramisu, and it was the perfect finish—light, creamy, and full of fresh strawberry flavour.
What sets Beach Pea apart is not just the quality of the food but the care behind every detail. It felt like every plate, every interaction, every moment was made to give guests a memorable experience. This was more than just dinner—it was a once-in-a-lifetime experience.
I feel so lucky to have found this place. If you're ever in Lunenburg, do yourself a favour and go. I can’t wait...
Read moreCan't say enough about this place. You have to try it to believe it. The service was spot on, and the food was amazing. We had to come back for a second dinner because we wanted to try so many items on the menu. A real cozy atmosphere and fine dining at its best. Absolutely would recommend this restaurant to anyone and will be coming back on our next vacation
So my wife, kids and I went back to this resturant. They were quite busy but had very good service. My wife ordered the Halibut and I ordered the scallop and rabbit risotto. When it came my wife's halibut was very dry. My risotto was so over cooked and mushy. I am not the one to complain but it was the server asked us if everything was OK, which I replied it is OK. He knew we were not pleased so asked again and we did tell the truth. The halibut is very dry and my risotto is very over cooked. He was very kind to take our plates back to get re cooked. 2nd time around it was perfect. I know that they were very busy amd the cooks were swamped with orders but they should do a quick quality check before things go out. Especially for the price you pay here.
But our server was very nice and generous to take the drinks and an appetizer off of out bill. That was very kind of him even though they did rectify the issue. I am still a 5 star review for this resturant as it is one of our favorites to go to in Lunenburg.
Thank you to the server for a great experience again. We will be coming back in the...
Read moreWe really wanted to like this place - but were disappointed to find that almost everything we ordered was shockingly bland!
The good: The grilled scallops entree with asparagus and morel was great: 10/10. Packed a flavor punch and had perfect scallop texture.
The mid: The lobster in the mafalde pasta was overcooked and tasted like chewy chicken. One of us thought the pasta sauce was great, the other thought the lemon was overpowering - but we both agreed the lobster was more of an afterthought.
The cocktails were fine: syrupy is the word that came to mind. We just expected more than one flavor note for the price and all the ingredients listed.
The bad: We were excited for the tuna tartare… but it was just flavorless mush. Not enough salt, pepper, lime - really almost any flavor at all.
The ugly: The desserts were beyond disappointing - a rhubarb chocolate cake and a strawberry “tiramisu”, both of which featured super dry and bland cakes - like something made from a boxed mix and over-baked. The tiramisu was not recognizable as a tiramisu: it was thick dry layers of bland white cake layered with slightly pink whipped cream, nor was it recognizably strawberry.
In all, we thought this place had a lot of promise from reading their menu each day on the street, but we honestly felt the whole experience was disappointing...
