The steak we got was undercooked, and it tasted burnt. All I could taste was charcoal from the grill because the cook seared it continously on the same spot that had a high flame.
There was barely any seasoning
From a food safety standpoint, the raw steak was placed on the same surface as one that used for cooked food. I saw the cook place the raw steak on the mat, use a knife to cut the package, took the steak from the package with the same tongs that were used to grab cooked burgers from the grill. This plastic cutting mat was the same one that was used where cooked roasted chicken was placed lying flat before it was cut.
I asked for a medium well steak. I thought it was unusual that the steak should be ready within 3 minutes of it being on the grill. He showed it to me sideways but I could not tell the from the part he had cut into the meat as it was on an angle.
The other person working the station early on asked me which sides I wanted. I specifically didn't want it plated until the meat was ready because I didn't want the sides to get cold.
However, when I got to the table with the meal, the sides were lukewarm at best. Half way through, the steak was medium rare. I brought it back to be cooked and "Tom" who had originally cooked the steak, just took the two cut pieces of steak I had eaten and put it onto the grill where he seared it on the same area of the grill that had white charcoal residue. Presumably since this was the hottest area of the grill?
The steak was a nice piece of meat, but the fast cooking and insistence on cooking it over the same area that had white charcoal build up ruined the taste. The meat itself was still red but the outside tasted burnt. After many hours since the meal, I can still taste the charcoal.
An unpleasant meal and I won't be back. Disappointing that this meal was...
Read moreCame to Richtree Square One this morning for breakfast with my son. This was our first time here. We went to the Rosti stand, and I ordered two sausage and egg plates with added bacon on the side (using my fingers to symbol the number 2, as well as asking). The worker, Priyankara, began cooking one egg although he had two pans so I figured he forgot I asked for 2. I reminded him I ordered 2 and he gave me a look as though I made the mistake. When he went to put the meat on the plate, he asked if I want sausage or bacon and I reminded him I had asked for both. He said only one comes with the order and I reminded him again I asked for bacon on the side. His response was mumbling that I should have placed my orders correctly before. I told him I did. I'm unsure as to how my order was confusing when I spoke clearly and I even used my fingers to symbol the number two to him. In addition to this, both me and my son were standing together...did he think we were going to share one breakfast?? Anyway..the food was okay and the front staff ladies were very nice. The other worker at Rosti, Ashleigh, who seemed to be training was very nice. Priyankara needs to be retrained on customer service because I don't see how one could be so grumpy at 8:30am when barely any customers have...
Read moreThis place is one of my go to places to eat in Square One. Here is my review on it...
Food: Food varies. Sometimes it's good, sometimes great, but rarely bad. Ordered some rosti with BBQ chicken, and fish and chips. Fish was okay, chips/fries were good. As for the rosti, that was good as well. Props to the chefs there that have me a huge chunk of chicken. Tons of meat on it, unlike other places. A tad bit too salty, but pretty good. Soup also varies. Love the food options. There are tons to choose from.
Cleaniless: I've seen other reviews telling people how unsanitary it is, but I've had no problems whatsoever. Forks and spoons could use more cleaning though, so I recommend wiping it thoroughly before use with maybe a wet napkin.
Staff: Sometimes impolite, or uncaring but mostly nice. A couple people there do their job with 100% effort though, so there's that.
Price: Cost me around $29 for two meals. Not that bad, but could be better. Quantity for my rosti was amazing, and quality was good. Fish and chips could use some work though. Soup was okay, but way too salty for me.
Environment: Comfortable and loud.
Verdict: Nice place to go to to try. I've been here a few times, and I haven't had one time I didn't like it. Give it a shot. You'll probably like it. 3.7...
