One of the superior brewpubs in Montreal and the best one in the west end. Terrific enlarged beer garden on corner of Sherbrooke St. and Jeanne-Mance. The American Brown paired nicely with my Rueben Sandwich plate. I first asked for the Weizenbock but the server said that the keg had just been changed and he felt that it was not up to standard. Without my asking, he brought me a taster of it and I thought it was fine. But they are sticklers for quality here. Over the years, the beer quality and range has just better and better. I took a can of Saison to go to watch a soccer game. Also, top quality. This is a required stop for any brewpub traveler and I make sure I am on its terrace every month during our fine summer season.

Stopped in to Benelux on a Saturday afternoon with friends for one beer. For an hour or so we had the entire place to ourselves. It is typical Montreal brewpub with a great selection of decent beers, and one fantastic hot dog. After consuming 3 beers, a bachelor party showed up and calamity ensued. After another two beers there was some inappropriate ass grabbing from a few of the bachelor party participants and our party unfortunately had to leave. But not before having one more beer. Mmmmm Mmmmm Mmmmm can't wait to get back to Benelux this Summer. Man we couldn't even figure out how Uber worked when we left this place...good times.

Benelux has been a favourite microbrewery for me for over fifteen years. They're conveniently close to McGill. They have a nice warm ambiance and the music isn't too loud—it does not at all interfere with conversation. Best of all, their beers are delicious. I think they made me start to enjoy beer really. Their snacks are pricey but tasty. If you're a fan of olives, try those! Their hotdogs are popular—large with a crunchy bun. The staff are friendly and accommodating. Great place to meet a friend or colleague, and an ideal choice for a first date.

Being a disappointed regular, I had to delete my previous 5-star review to reflect some recent development at this place. This place is deteriorating badly in terms of beer variety, beer quality (expiration), beer quantity (overly thick foam that cuts more than 1 inch per pint), and most disappointingly, the transactional attitude of some servers.

Beer variety and quality: the most popular choices are often unavailable in summer. Some beers are poorly stored that gives them an expired, over-fermented after taste. Health risk alert!

Beer quantity: several bartenders handle the tap very poorly and cheaply. Sometimes when they take the order wrong, they transfer the poured beer into the glass of the next order. Also, they don't handle the foam professionally. They can serve a pint with a foam header almost 2-inch thick. Given the shape of the glass, the beer comes way less than a standard pint (ou grande verre). Shrinkflation?!

Servers: They are ridiculously under-staffed to cover the three large areas. Inevitably, they get busy. When they are busy, they discriminate small tables over large groups. They also discriminate friendly regulars over new customers. They don't respect or honour customer loyalty. They can tell a regular (rudely) or sometimes just with a hand gesture (like calling a dog) to summon them to order or pay at the bar. The more familiar a customer is to them, the less hospitable they become. Rude!

In addition, inside wooden chairs are sticky on the seat and back. Upper holstered furniture has broken surface and dirty foam inside. Speaking of hygiene . . . ugh! This place has me a lot of good memories. But it is getting...

Came here since it had reasonably positive reviews and thought this would be a great place to grab a quick beer and a hot dog. While sitting on the patio, a bug flew into my full glass of beer. I asked the server politely to replace my beer and instead he rudely stated he "couldn't control the weather and perhaps we should sit inside". If that wasn't bad enough, he stated he could remove the bug with a spoon and stated if I wanted another beer, I would have to pay for one. Shocked, I said sure I'll pay for another one. He then left the beer containing the bug sitting on our table for many minutes, and when he returned with another beer, he once again asked if I wanted him to remove the bug with a spoon, to which I replied absolutely not. I asked another waiter if I could speak to the manager and he stated that my previous waiter was the manager. I then told him what occured and asked him if that is normal for them to offer to spoon bugs out of beer to which he nonchantly replied "yes". Absolutely disgusting. Do not come here if you expect good customer service, good food or even good beer. There are many other options in Montreal where you won't be expected by the wait staff to drink beers that contain...
