Food and drink were ok, but oh my god was I witness to one of the worst customer service interactions I have ever seen in my life. While waiting for my drink, one of the baristas with black straight hair (and the nastiest attitude), called out a sweet hot chocolate that had been sitting there for a while. After a few minutes, the man in front of me in line waiting for his drink very politely said that he had been waiting for a mocha, to which this barista then looked at him, didn’t say a word, and then dumped an espresso shot into the now cold drink that had been sitting there. Obviously he didn’t want that drink anymore so he said that he had asked for a mocha, to which she stated that that was a mocha and then proceeded to explain to him what a mocha even was, like ok miss barista I think he knew what he was ordering. After a minute of asking for a new drink she started insisting that if the drink was wrong he should have spoken up much earlier, as if he could have even known that was his drink because he ordered a mocha, not a sweet hot chocolate. She did eventually make the drink after a lot of arguing with the man and his wife, eye rolling and scoffing. The whole interaction was extremely uncomfortable to watch and I felt very bad for the couple after having to endure all that over a re-made drink. Any other place you go, remaking a drink really is not that much of a hassle. I am a customer service worker as well and I understand having bad days and not being as friendly as usual but oh my god this girl was just nasty to some very polite customers. The man taking the orders at the front was very sweet, literally just this one girl was a pice...

I am not one to write negative reviews (past reviews can be used as reference) but if I do, it has to be from a traumatizing experience with an establishment. If I were to write a list of 100 things to do in Montreal, this would be so far down the list that they would need to create a new number to describe the depths of despair which I felt with after attempting to acquire caffeinated beverages at this location.

If I were to try and distill the horrors which I encountered at this location, I would have to start with the agony of interacting with the staff. Yesterday, my friends and I had ordered four coffees, and we had to wait for over 45 minutes for these beverages - given the lengthy wait I would have assumed that they had initially planted the plant from which they would harvest the beans. Unfortunately, the beverages tasted as if they had instead harvested the dirt in the backyard and poured boiling water over it.

To make matters worse, when my friends and I came to inquire as to the whereabouts of our beverages, the staff were not only unhelpful but outright hostile. While my friends were waiting outside with our dog, which we did not bring inside due to a desire to be respectful and hygenic, we were rudely informed that we should have sullied this venue by waiting inside with our diseased dog because otherwise they would not prepare our beverages.

After this odyssey, we had waited over an hour for four coffees, informed that the delay was our fault, and received four drinks which I could have made better myself if I boiled the 8m contents of a...

The atmosphere was quite unique as the restaurant actually as a retail store as well for the chocolate chocolate 🍫 focus approach. I called them before I arrive to ask if they got eggless options, they had few left at that moment (around 4 pm) I ordered hot chocolate ☕️ and as per their recommendation oat 🍪 cookie:

Hot chocolate was good ... with right CACO dark chocolate 65%.. I guess that what she mentioned when I enquired.

But the real star was the Oat 🍪.. ithas the right sweetness and chocolate chips, not so chewy and had right moisture content to it.. I enjoyed it... complimenting my drink.

They got variety of chocolate over the counter and on the cooler as well... I will go again to try the ice-cream... all products looked quite local to me..

1 would have given more stars for the service if they had lore product knowledge or at least ask other experienced staff about ingredients... As I had some questions regarding crossaint and other pattesries.. 🥐

Overall good spot to explore... Priced right and better to other cafés as per the location..

I would recommend it to the...

The worst customer service I've experienced in Montreal. I explicitly asked the employee that I would like to have the pastries and coffee for dine-in, not as a takeaway. However, she proceeded to put the pastries in bags, which surprised me. I planned to ask for a plate after she was done with the coffees, but in the meantime, I emphasized once more that I wanted the coffee for dine-in. To my confusion, she poured the coffee into paper cups. When I looked around, I noticed that 90% of other customers had coffee mugs and plates for their pastries. While I wouldn't typically mind drinking coffee from a paper cup, I was annoyed at how the employee treated me differently. When I asked her why I didn't get a mug, she rudely poured the coffee into the mug without saying anything. Honestly, I’ve never felt so disrespected in a coffee shop. Was it because I’m an asian, was it because i didn’t speak french properly and mainly using english, was it because the barista thought i was just a tourist and didn’t deserve to be served properly as other clients…

This place is absolutely GORGEOUS. I was walking to the Notre-Dame Basilica and had to stop when I saw the beautiful plant-covered store exterior. The interior is even more charming, with colorful Tiffany lamps, gold mirrors, and vintage decorations. You'll find not only a café, but also a little market for snacks and gifts ("le petit dép" is short for "le petit dépanneur," which are basically little convenience stores). The café prices are pretty reasonable - I paid 6 CAD (4.5 USD) for a matcha latte with alternative milk. It's the store/market area that can be expensive - most prices are clearly marked, but I picked up some dried Italian breadsticks that ended up being 10 CAD (7.5 USD) when I thought they'd be half the price. In any case, the café is still super lovely, and is a perfect spot for coffee or lunch. This location is also much cuter than the other location further into the old town.
