Beware asthmatics! Do not go to this place! We had the most horrible restaurant experience at Venice Mtl. Where do I begin? We walked into a completely empty restaurant in the middle of the day and were greeted by a very snappy server, who answered our questions impatiently, then kept coming to our table (the only occupied table), rushing us a few times to decide on what we were going to order. We settled for the only true vegan option, a tofu poke bowl, which proved to be nothing special. My food came in a chipped bowl, adding to the unclassy approach of this place. But the real awful part came towards the end, when we suddenly started smelling smoke, thinking that somebody was smoking cigarettes while passing in the street outside and that it would go away, only to realize that it was from INSIDE the restaurant and getting thicker and thicker until the air became impossible to breathe. My partner, who is asthmatic, was seized by an immediate asthma attack and had to leave as soon as humanly possible, suffering the effects for the remaining hours of the day. All because the restaurant staff had decided to intentionally burn coffeee grains in order to deter flies from coming in. It is, apparently "poison for the flies," yet it can also bring people to the brink of passing out in the process. Not that the restaurant staff would want to consider that! Not even giving a warning to the few customers seated at the tables (a group of five other people had also ventured into the place as we were having our meal). In short, I would avoid this venue like the plague, and definitely not set foot inside if you suffer from asthma or any...
Read moreHORRIBLE!!!!!!! August 16th 2021 around 12 noon. We are a couple from Toronto and met a friend from Montreal for lunch to have a nice chat after haven't seen eachother for 5 years . The food is ok nothing special . The server was nice but the Hostes/Bartender treated us horribly with attitude and she made us feel very uncomfortable and very unwelcomed. She seated the 3 of us to a table of two added a chair to it under the speaker at the corner of the bar , and turned up the music . When we asked her if she cold turn it dow a little because we couldn't hear each other ,she said she would not turn the music down .(she even turned the volume up ) she gave us the smallest table although the restaurant was nearly empty when we arrived and she gave attitude when we asked for a table farther from the speaker so we can have a conversation after haven't seen each other for 5 years.I couldn't hear my own voice and everybody was looking around why is it so loud when it is supposed to be only a nice background music so people can enjoy themselves, it is Monday at noon at a restarant not Saturday night at a night club. We will never return to this place . The whole experience was terrible and the most upsetting is that she purposely turned the the music up to make us really uncomfortable and...
Read moreVenice beach styled décor makes you feel the ocean and seafood. The poke was delicious and one of the top ones in Montreal. Today I went back to the restaurant and it still didn’t disappoint me at all. They don’t take rsvp so when we arrived at 7:30pm we waited for 10-15 minutes for party of 2. The staff is as friendly as usual and funny as well :) We had guacamole as the appetizer and i had a tropical smoothie which was very tasty. However, I felt it wasn’t cold enough for a hot day like this. My friend had a cocktail and he liked it very much. Then for main course, I had my usual-salmon poke bowel which was delicious with plenty of fresh salmon and seaweed salads and other ingredients. So delicious! My friend had tuna poke and he told me it has a bit of spicy to it but not very strong. He agreed that the fish was very fresh and the overall taste is great! For a beautiful restaurant like this in the heart of old port, I feel the price for value ratio is high. I highly recommend this restaurant to people who likes raw fish, sushi and rice bowls. They also opened a second location on beaver hall a while back. It’s also very nice but I like the ambiance in this...
