Did not live up to the expectation We came here after looking up for new restos around MTL and was attracted to the ambience of the resto. We were truly amazed and impressed by the decor, the music and environment of the resto/bistro, it was seriously the best highlight of this whole experience. We would come back just for the spot and the coffee. Now on to the main reason why we gave this restaurant 2 stars. In short, the food was a huge disappointment, much to our surprise. We were 3 people, ordering 5 dishes hoping for an amazing meal. Unfortunately, we were pretty turned off after the appetizer which was the fried calamari with tartare sauce. The calamari was not fresh in our opinion because there was no bouncy texture of fresh seafood but rather was kinda mushy and greasy, sauce was not bad but already set off a bad vibes for the dinner, plating was not appealing as well. We also ordered chicken milanese, grilled entrecote. bresaola pizza and spaghettoni amatriciana. The waiter did not ask how we want our steak to be done but it came out medium so thank god it was not that bad, the dish was fine but there was no distinct flavor, just some baked potatoes that weren't cripsy and bland arugula cherry tomatoes salad. The chicken milanese was probably the worst dish out of all, it was just...flavorless, I wasn't sure what I was eating to be honest, the arugula salad with cherry tomatoes and some shaved cheese did not rescue that dish...The pasta was another huge disappointment as well, there was barely any minced meat and was also not covered in sauce, I was hoping there was enough sauce to make up for the lack of flavor but no...Lastly, thank goodness the pizza was not thatt bad, but still not enough cheese and the dough was kinda thick (which was fine) but no seasoning. I had to force myself to finish the meal with some ketchup and mayo, had some leftovers as well but seriously considering not to eat it because it's just...bad! All together with tips and tax it was 150, which is quite pricey for student but for working people the price is not that bad, I would not mind paying this price range for good food but this one really saddened me and I regretted ordering this much. But would come back here just for the ambience and maybe the desserts and drinks. This is my take on this restaurant, no mean of tarnishing its reputation, just completely honest thoughts...
Read moreI’ve been going to Marché Italien Le Richemont for about four years now, and I really wish I could say it’s stayed as good as it was the first time I went. Unfortunately, it’s been going downhill ever since.
The very first time I ate there, I had a beautiful carpaccio to start and a veal cutlet as a main. Everything was well-cooked, well-presented, and felt genuinely special. That meal really stood out, and I left thinking I had found a hidden gem in Griffintown.
Since then, I’ve returned mostly for brunch, and every time the experience has been more disappointing than the last. The service has dropped significantly. The concept of the place is interesting, with a shop, a deli counter, and a restaurant all in one space, but I feel like the staff are shared across all three and it makes everything feel stretched thin. When the restaurant gets busy, the team just can’t keep up. It often shows in small but important ways, I’ve had to sit at sticky tables more than once, which says a lot about how overwhelmed the staff are during peak hours.
The shop itself is visually attractive. Some of the products are cute and make for good gifts, but pricing is a serious issue. It’s extremely expensive, even for Griffintown standards. It’s nice to browse and maybe pick something up once in a while, but it’s not a place where I’d go do any regular shopping.
It’s a shame, because the place does have potential. The idea behind it works. But the execution has just been getting worse, and there doesn’t seem to be a sense of accountability for it. At this point, I wouldn’t recommend the restaurant side anymore. There are too many other places in the city offering better food and better service for the same or...
Read moreI’m really surprised by all the raving reviews. My hopes were high, but the food quality and taste was quite poor sadly. Location, decor and setting were on point. We ordered the calamari to start, it was ok. I would have expected fresh cut for the price, but it was not. We then ordered the margherita pizza, risotto agli aspargi, and the rigatoni pesto. I originally wanted to try the gnocchi, but for whatever reason it was not available. The margherita pizza was missing the basil completely. So in other words, my company received a basic cheese pizza. The risotto had zero trace/taste of asparagus. My pesto pasta arrived with a well sized hair on the plate. The server immediately took it away, and my meal was replaced within 5-7 minutes. At first bite I was very disappointed. All three meals were very, very bland. Tasteless! And that made us sad, because we really did wanna love the place. The server was kind, attentive, and had a great personality. Menu knowledge was limited, but we still enjoyed his service. After my dinner was finished, I was offered bread to help clean up the plate. Strange that it was not brought out upon seating, which I would consider quite normal of Italian dining. Nothing was done on the bill to compensate for the inconvenience with the pesto pasta, but that’s not what we were looking for. It was 730pm, and we were the only table inside, there was a group sitting at the bar. Not sure if this is normal for Restaurants as we’re still adjusting to “post-Covid”, or maybe dinners aren’t their thing. Sadly we...
