I recently visited Sansotei Ramen in Motreal and had an incredibly disappointing encounter with Shunya (apparently he is one of the managers). From the moment I entered the restaurant, it was evident that the individual serving me was disinterested and rude He also responded curtly and with a dismissive attitude.
The lack of professionalism was glaring. He handled my queries with impatience, barely acknowledging my presence as a customer. It was evident that he had no interest in providing quality service or addressing my concerns.
Furthermore, his demeanor bordered on outright hostility. His tone was brusque, and his body language conveyed annoyance. I left the establishment feeling disrespected and undervalued as a customer.
Overall, my experience was marred by the behavior of this particular employee, and I'm hesitant to return in the future if such...
Read moreWe were being greedy. After a big Japanese lunch, we came across this ramen-ya. It has the similar Kinton Ramen feel - even similar metal cups?
However our experience this time here compared to KR is very different.
I love the yellow noodle that they use. It’s a little curly, smoother and springy compared to some of the other ramen-ya that have more straight noodles. I don’t know why not more noodle shop would use this type of ramen.
The broth is more intense than KR for sure.
A little more milky than Neotokyo which was already very good.
The grilled charsiu was probably the best we had on this trip.
The service was quick and efficient, but not much more engagement. That’s ok. I respect that it’s a place to have a quick bite.
Apparently there are another 2 branches. Will have to try...
Read moreOne of my favorite ramen spots in Montreal Sansotei Ramen stands out with its flavorful options and cozy atmosphere.
I ordered the Black Tonkotsu Ramen, which came with chashu (charred pork), wood ear mushrooms, soft-boiled egg and a black garlic oil that added an incredible aroma and depth of flavor — 10/10. I also tried the Black Miso Ramen, which had a bold miso and mushroom profile. It’s a bit thicker and saltier, perfect if you prefer a strong, hearty broth, with tender pork belly and egg — 9/10.
The space is warm and cozy, great for couples or small groups, though it might be a bit tight for larger parties.
Located right in the heart of Montreal’s Asian food hub, surrounded by Japanese, Korean, and Chinese eateries, Sansotei is a place I’ll definitely be returning to....
